Who is our best player

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Wed Dec 31, 2008 2:48 pm

Discuss.

Me personally I believe it is DJ. I know he is a rookie and he is not looking like our best player right now but I am pretty sure after the allstar break if he is starting he becomes a 17 and 7 guy.
He has the potential to not be the best player on a team but defenately second best which is better then everybody else. Diaw, Mek, Wallace none of them should be the best player on a team. There all great 3rd and 4th options respectively.

Why DJ is better then these guys

Diaw-To inconsistant
Crash-Lack of being able to create makes him a Marion type guy. Great player but never main feature
Mek-He just lacks what it takes to be a 20 plus scorer. Great 14-18 point a game guy yeah, better version of Buck Williams.

We all knew DJ was a great passer playmaker but he is showing he can be a 20 point a game scorer as well. Maybe he was the right pick over Lopez.

One of the main problems with this team has been that we have never had a player that should be the #1 option on a winning team....we have always been a team of role players...guys that should be 3rd or 4th options on a winning team. We were an expansion team so of course we werent gonna get a franchise player from that although we got who is probably our best player in Crash, the draft is where we should've atleast got our foundation from and honestly Emeka appears to be part of that but he is a role player, 3 other lottery picks (Felton, May, Morrison) dont look to be a part of our future and DJ looks good but considering we just drafted a young PG 4 years ago and everyone knew we needed frontcourt help & still need frontcourt help says alot about our team talent evaluation & Felton's progress....

I vote Crash as our best player...you know what your getting from him everybody else is too up & down, if he isnt scoring he affects the game w/ hustle & defense and fills the other stats...its a shame too but I almost want him to be traded to a contender & be able to be that missing part instead of wasting his best years here as the #1 guy on a team going nowhere....

i think it's gerald.

this guy has so much heart and hustles on both ends of the floor.
and there are not many small forwards out there, who can defend, score 20points and grab 10rebounds.

Right now, I have to vote Crash. But I see DJ making a strong play for that by the season's end. Okafor and Diaw are very solid players and I am happy with them on the team, but they will not overtake Crash. DJ will surpass them soon, at least I expect him to do so.

It's really messed up that we don't have that guy. Every team in the league except us. Even the bad teams. Were is our Kevin Durant or Brandon Roy. Hell I would settle for an Andre Iguodala. We need that guy. Were set up with a 2nd 3rd and 4th option. Just need the first.

Y'know that Crash is leading Iggy in almost every statistical category except for assists right?

Crash hands down. We have no one who can wreak havoc on the opposing team like Crash can. He's also the only guy who can pretty much get us points when we absolutely need it (either in a FG or at the line).

I still only see "solid" in the future for DJ...but hopefully he can prove me wrong.

Okafor. He may play like he's inconsistent but he never consistently gets the ball so blame NOT him. He's made the commitment to get better and it shows. How many game has he made clutch blocks in the final seconds!!!

Emeka Okafor is our best guy.

It varies from week to week depending on who is hot at the time (which is most of the problem) but all in all I'd have to go with Crash.

If Mek isn't getting the ball he needs to scream for the ball. Also goto guys don't miss 2 free throws in the clutch including an airball.

Wallace is not in any way better then Iggy but I should have made my answer more clear.
Wallace is the best player on the team now but I think DJ is the player most likely to surpass him.
Iggy can handle the ball, make plays for others, he is also a defender who locks his guy down and although the stats aren't there it's because he gambles less. He can create and be a goto guy.

Hmmm.... They all have their faults. Lets see...

Augustine - Still has a shoot first mentality, which isn't bad on this team but he is a PG, and his defense leaves a little o be desired.

Felton - Has a pretty bad FG % and continues to try and take over games when he is unable to do so.

Wallace - The only thing I can think of is he pulls p and shoots the three too often, although that may be the result of our offense being inept.

Diaw - As others have said, he is inconsistent. I would also add to that he is turnover prone and needs to rebound better for his position (but he's not as bad as I thought).

Okafor - Another guy that is inconsistent. He is also a bit undersized and gets his shot blocked often.

Out of these guys I would say that I would take Okafor on his best night slightly over Wallace on his best night. He can dominate in some games, even against bigger guys as he showed when Charlotte faced Dallas. I don't think Wallace quite has the ability to take over, but I like how he fills up the stat line and is an all-around player.

Okafor is my pick for the Bobcats best player.

(1) We'll find out when he is the next player to be traded.

(2) Wallace.

Ajinca. I have it on good authority that he would be a top 5 pick in next year's draft.

Ajinca? That's a joke right? He is a 140 pound center. Keon Clark. That's about it.
