OT: Players Being Shopped (Yahoo Article)
This is from Yahoo - link through hoopshype.com. Note that there are a couple of Bobcats.
Three NBA executives say that the Golden State Warriors are pushing Corey Maggette hard in trade talks. Other players that executives say are available include Philadelphia 76ers center Sam Dalembert, Charlotte Bobcats guard Raymond Felton and forward Adam Morrison, Chicago Bulls forward Drew Gooden and guard Larry Hughes and Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller. …

Further down in the same article it mentions interest in Diaw around the league. It states Higgins is not motivated to trade Diaw. Good news.

Yes - and i always believed that "Curry to Charlotte" rumor was just created by wishful thinking NY writers

Tommy - what sort of return do you think your FO would want for Hughes? With his recent "play me more mins" rumblings, would they just want to move him for the sake of moving him and getting him away?
I read your board and some of the posters are suggesting to just send him home or make him inactive when Hinrich and Deng are back!!
I'd happily trade Nazzy and Hammer for him (and play Bell off the bench)

Big Slam i second that motion, hughes could do some good for this roster he's a better scorer then bell, and better on the defensive end then hammer, bell could provide the second unit with Def and it would be interesting to see hughes and gforce together.

I like Hughes. Not sure how LB feels about him though. He drafted Hughes and said at the time he thought Hughes would have been the top pick if he stayed in school another year. Of course he traded Hughes also. I think it was more trying to fit someone with Iverson than anything.

I believe the only way we would get Hughes is if we waited and they waited of course and Bell was involved. I know they have plenty of sg's but they must see what a vet like Bell does and we don't have anything else good to offer that we would give up. Gerald is to much unless we get back Thomas or Noah and there not doing that.
As for Diaw I like him but why didnt Higgens say were not trading him not were not motivated to. Seems like he's not untouchable by any standards espially if there is no interest for anybody else on the squad.

If we wait on Hughes to include Bell then it really doesn't help us enough this season to be worth doing. Hughes is not a guy I think improves our team a lot, and would be a one and done next season anyway.
Soon we will be past the point of return. I don't want to do a deal at the trade deadline that only jacks up wins that move us further down the lottery order. I don't mind doing that IF we trade for a young SG that is part of our future core. Hughes doesn't fit that bill.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Guys Hughes is under 30. He's not old. He is in is prime. There not that far away from competiting.
WIth that said I do believe they do have to make a deal now and if were clearly not making the playoffs I don't want wins either. I hope we get at least the 5th pick.

Nazr/May/Morrison for Hughs
We unload players that don't fit in Larrys system--pickup veteran 2 with expiring contract who knows Larrys system...
Chicago gets good servicable backup center in Nazr contract expires 2010,Mays expirin contract next year and Morrison three point scoring off bench/#3 draft pick expiring contract in 2 years
Has extra 47milllion in salaries expire before 2010..
The Bulls might bite at this or make counter with Hughs and Gooden if we throw in Carroll..
Worth a try?

Re: OT: Players Being Shopped (Yahoo Article)
I'm not particularly high on Hughes or Gooden. But they are both servicable players. Gooden's a good rebounder and low post scorer but he has a bad reputation as a player who isnt the brightest bulb in the box.
While granted, hughes would be an upgrade over anyone we have at the two spot right now, he's not a long term solution. Yes, he's not quite 30 yet -that wont happen for 20 more days- but to paraphrase Indiana Jones, its not the age, its the miles. Hughes has been in the NBA since 98' and he's logged alot of minutes. He's not the same player who averaged 23 points per game for GS back in 99' and even if he was, I dont know if I'd take that hughes either (he shot only 38% that season).
Long and short, if CHI is willing to part with Hughes for some of our dead weight and bloated contracts, great. I don't think they will. Either way, while he would help, he is not going to be a panacea.
The only 2 guard in the upcoming draft who appears able to make any immeadiate impact is James Harden. He'll be off the board in the top three though so acquiring him is unlikely.
I would stay away from hughes and instead shoot for the moon by acquiring somone like a Belinelli who is still young (22) and still has an outside shot at possibly becoming something special. In many ways, Belinelli is similar to Rudy Fernandez. I've watched alot of GS lately and while he's facing an uphill battle on defense due to his relatively slight frame, he's a capable scorer, a dangerous 3pt shooter and a brilliant passer.
Hell, I think I'd even prefer the Warrior's Azubukie over hughes. GS would be the perfect team to deal with considering their overstock of two guards. Ellis will probably play point for them upon his return but he is essentially an undersized two. Jamal Crawford will start for them. That leaves shooting guards Azubukie, Belinelli and Morrow (the undrafted rook who scored 37 for them in his debut) on their bench.
Honestly, the Felton for Randolph/Wright and Belinelli rumor from a few weeks ago was one of the more rational ones that I've heard as of late.

I see Hughes, Nocioni & Thabo as most likely Bulls to be traded.
Highly unlikely that Hinrich (who turns 28 today) is traded. Bulls will keep him since Gordon is expected to depart after this year.
Highly unlikely we trade Gooden who is our only post player. Gooden is also a captain, meaning that team probably intends to keep him around until the contract expires.
Bulls plan to keep their developing players: Tyrus, Noah, Gray.
However, there is a lot on Charlotte that Bulls would like. We can use Nazr. We would almost certainly take Morrison in a Hughes deal.

Rational for the Cats no doubt. Would be stupid for the Warriors...

And it even works salarywise. This would also give the Bulls a little more wiggle room in regards to the tax (you guys are right on the edge aren't you?).

I'm 100% on Board with that deal. Yes, Bulls are only a few hundred thousand from Lux Tax & this would certainly help.
Hinrich is due back in 2 weeks & Bulls must trade a guard very soon. Morrison will get a chance on Bulls & will not be demanding to start like Hughes is doing.
Can you get Mr Higgins to call Mr Paxson.......

That would get a big yes from me! We'd still have Carroll but if we swing another trade involving Felton maybe we could unload his contract too... Hughes would give us good D on the wing as well as some ball-handling ability. I could see a deal similar to this going through in reality.

This is pretty much what I suggested a couple of weeks ago and I still think that it has a LOT of merit for both teams.
If this was on offer I think we would be out of our minds not to jump all over it.
If the next step was to trade Hammer so that Bell was our 1st wing off the bench, I think that it would go a long way to balancing out our roster and helping LB to shorten his rotations.

I would do that deal, absolutely. But we'd need to do it now so we have a chance to get better this season versus next year.
I cannot get the ESPN link open at work (firewall). What is the essence of the info?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Even better - make it Nazzy and Hammer for Hughes.
Leave Ammo for a secondary trade (I think it would be easier to move him than Hammer)

They wouldn't take both. They'd already be eating into their '10 money with Nazr's deal; adding Hammer would tack on 10 million.
Don't be so greedy.
