Charlotte wants Stephen Curry?

Post#1 » by Liver_Pooty » Thu Jan 15, 2009 9:08 pm

" 3. Stephen Curry, Davidson
Curry might be the most controversial player on this list. Some scouts don't believe he's a point guard. Others worry about his diminutive stature or his lack of explosiveness as an athlete. Still others fret about some of Curry's disappearing acts against quality teams. However, no one doubts that Curry's shooting ability, basketball IQ and clutch play -- combined with an excellent basketball pedigree -- make him a player who will likely be drafted in the lottery.

There's been talk that the Bobcats could be the club that covets him (and the seats he'd fill) the most … but it's way too early for that speculation. Besides, you'd think MJ & Co. would have learned by now that drafting players with local or marketing appeal (e.g., Raymond Felton, Sean May and Adam Morrison) doesn't help much if they're not going to be stars. He would be an interesting combo guard off the bench next to Augustin if the team does indeed trade Felton as opposed to paying him.

Great find LP. I changed it a bit - for interests sake!!

Curry smacks of Ammo V.2

If Fats totally gets on his bandwagon over the next fews months, that will just seal it for me.

Agreed. Charlotte needs a dynamic athlete at the 2 slot, even if that means drafting a raw player and let him develop behind Bell for a year.

If we can get him in the 2nd round, then great.

We would have one heckuva team, if we just consult with him on any move, then do the opposite of what he suggests :)

 I'm guessing he'll stay in school to try and refine his pg skills. Doubt his family is hurting for money. And get a degree too.

How about we actually try to pick THE BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE THAT PROJECTS TO BE A REAL NBA PLAYER!!!

I'm sick of college stars that have clear limitations physically at the pro level. PLEASE learn from our sick, pathetic history and don't pass on the next Danny Grainger for another McMay or Morrison (Ammo should be dropped...that nickname would presume he actually puts bullets in our gun).
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I still believe that Ammo's problems are 100% between his ears...I think he is a different animal from the other smallish, big scoring college 2's that couldn't cut it in the NBA. Sean Respert, Randolph Childress, Trajan Langdon, JJ Redick, etc.

I really, really want to believe in Curry, but I can't. As a general rule, I feel that smallish players have to be great athletes to succeed. Curry Doesn't qualify.

Curry will be better than the guys I listed above, including Ammo. But not a star. I think he will be a better ball handling/passing Daniel Gibson. Not a bad player all things considered.

I wouldnt give up on Redick just yet. His shot is finally beginning to fall with consistent playing time.

I LOVE curry. i thik he is unreal. great shooter, smart, high IQ, humble, great passer, combo guard, son of dell freakin' curry, davidson grad. i mean, the only thing that could make me like curry more would be if we found out that he was actually born in europe and played semi-pro ball in france since he was 11.

so, all that being said..... we should probably stay far far away from him in june. from now on i only recommend we go after dumb as rock, oversized wings, been investigated for roid use the one year they were in college (before dropping out in March, after his team lost in the first round amid speculation the player was ineligble due to taking money from an agent when he was 7), with police records, refers to himself in 3rd person during interviews, has 4 kids from 3 different baby mommas, who can jump so high there is a youtube clip of them eating a piece of beef jerky off the rim while dunking and of course, they have, no less, than 10 threads on the general board, all started by ballboys, touting them as the next kobe.

that's the player i want to draft.

the last guy the bobcats need is a great college player who can't cut it in the NBA, and curry is the epitome of that. not saying he'll be a bust but your taking a huge risk drafting him.
