Diop looking good

Post#1 » by cedric76 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 5:53 pm

could he ben the missing piece?

i m sure LB can turn him into the next big ben or next theo ratliff

many people forget that he is still young and raw,he can only improve.

I had no idea he had game outside of 5 ft from the rim. That shot he hit from the FT line last night looked GOOD.

I think that might be the first shot in his career he has made outside of 6 or 7 feet. No joke.

forget offense... i just want to see him dominate the boards and blocks shots. i'd be happy if he never took a shot that wasnt a dunk.

He will absolutely not be a Ben Wallace or Theo Ratliff and is not the missing piece and you know that. Lets not be homers about it. Theo was an allstar and a very hard worker. He also became a decent offensive player. Not great or anything but better then Tyson Chandler was. Ben Wallace was also a super workhorse and an allstar. If Theo had Diop's size and potential he would have been as good as Deke.

Diop however is young and does have the talent enough to become a good player. He could be a 8 point 11-12 rebound 3 block guy if he reaches his potential.
He is like one of so many players like Dampier for example who can play alot better if motivated like if he was in a contract year.
The good news is this french connection thing could make the players happier then we think. Boris Diaw has played great since the Diop trade was announced. If he is really happy and tries his hardest and listens and learns to from LB he can become a Saumel Dalambert minus the offense.

More likely he plays at best 20 minutes scores 5 points with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.

He is not the missing piece because the missing piece is a go to scorer. He can be the missing Center we need letting Mek play C and PF. Diaw is better at the 4 with some minutes at the 3. Instead of Mek being a 5 or a fulltime 4 he can go back and fourth. Diop back up all 3 frontcourt spots moving Diaw to 3 at times and Mek at pf at times. He is the missing piece at the Center position and we don't need to move Diaw to the 3 or Mek to the 4 unless we get a great deal or pick up somebody in the draft or Lexi becomes good like you guys say.
They can even go huge and go with Diop,Mek,Diaw,Wallace,Felton for some periods of time being that all our guys can play multiple positions. Gerald needs to learn to hit the 3.

We are in a great spot though because we no longer have to think about redicoulus trades like Wallace for Miller or Diaw for Curry.

I think we should start giving Lexi 10 minutes a game though because next year Juwan won't be there probably.

Anchor the 2nd unit & go after each rebound like the fate of the game depends on it (it does).

Everything else is extra.

:D :D   Diop had a great night--thats just what we need--now lets see how he does against these west coast teams.. work on that 10 foot jumper and hook shot and he may give us 10pts/10 boards/2blks in 20mpg.. Don't laugh cause I think LB sees this also.
Rock on Diop!

Nope. He's always had that 10/15-foot jump shot going back to his days with Cleveland. He stopped using it in Dallas wherein he's relegated (like Damp) to just glue guys but started using it again while in New Jersey. That's the only "reliable" offensive move he has.
