Nice veteran team!
Well, what to say...Brown and Jordan are collecting a solid good veteran team. It looks like a 5 to 8 Eastern playoff team for next seasons.
10 players for next season (I expect Felton to be resigned):
FELTON/AUGUSTIN
BELL
WALLACE/RADMANOVIC
DIAW/AJINCA
OKAFUR/DIOP/MOHAMED
Contract length (After this season):
OKAFUR 5
WALLACE 4
DIOP 4
DIAW 3
RADMANOVIC 2
MOHAMMED 2
BELL 2
FELTON exp.
AUGUSTIN 4 (rookie contract)
AJINCA 4 (rookie contract)
Only Mohammed is a player who I dont see getting minutes. I think that maybe only one trade is left now...Mohammed+Felton...otherwise I think this team will stay together for 2-3 years.

If you take into account that free agents probably wont sign for Charlotte...the way Brown is building the team is the right way.

I don't like to put it that way, but it's probably the truth. Hell, we'd have a hard time luring big-time players here via FA, much less in the next few years, where everyone is clearing cap space to make a run at the superstars anyway. We'd have a tough time if it was just us and one other team with cap space, much less us and eight other teams.

Also, Vlad only has one season longer than Ammo... so it's really not much of a "cap hell" situation.

Re: Nice veteran team!
Picking up Morrison's contract early was a bad move. We could have used him as an expiring otherwise. Even though as an expiring, but such an awful player, I don't know how much we could have gotten for him anyway. I really don't see many situations where we could have gotten someone better than Radmanovic for him.
We need to stop picking up the options on players early just to, I don't know, show them we support them, or whatever reason we do it for.
Even though they said it would be easier to trade Morrison if we picked up the option, so maybe that is the case? Even though I don't really see why.

look at the deals this front office has made.
Diaw and Bell for JRich we added 6.5 mil to the cap
Ammo for VladRad trade we got an extra year and an extra $10 mil on the cap
Hammer for Diop deal we picked up an extra $11 mil over the same amount of years
and don't forget last year when we traded Hermans expiring and Pillow's expiring for Nazr which was added 3 more years and totaled an extra $19.5 mill
This is what Larry does. Look at his history and the cap hell all his former teams were in when he stabbed them in the back. NY is still in trouble, Indiana was screwwed for 5 years, Philly just got out from under the hell he caused and Detroit was the exception because Dumars did not listen to him. Just wait till he trades McMays expiring for a 30 something combo guard that has 3 more years and about 17 mil owed to him. That is next!

You're going to lose all sorts of credibility with posts like that. NY was so deep into "cap hell" before LB's one year that suggesting he did that personally is pretty ludicrous.
We're adding salary, but we're also adding talent. Last time I checked you win with the latter and not the former.
Looking at your list:
Added 6.5 million in the Richardson for Diaw/Bell.
We traded 1 starter who was strong in some areas but weak in others for 2 starters. One was the PF we've been lacking since our conception and the other is a vet leader who brings consistency (don't hear that much in regards to the Bobcats!), an outside shot and a defensive mindset.
Bobats win.
Carroll/Hollins for Diop.
We rectified the Carroll 5 year deal and traded for a guy management pursued this summer. We got rid of a guy who worked hard but struggles without consistent minutes for a need (we had NO C banger except Mek).
It's very plausible that we could have ended up with both Carroll's AND Diop's contracts.
Backhanded win for the Bobcats.
Ammo for VladRad.
Like I've been arguing on the Trade Board...it's only 10 million if we keep that contract to fruition, and there's no guarantee we'll do that. Realistically, it's about 1.5 million more per season. Since the idea is still to make the playoffs, trading something that was such a liability for another which might actually help 1.5 million doesn't sound that bad to me.
Bobcats win.
last year when we traded Hermans expiring and Pillow's expiring for Nazr.
Noted, but that wasn't under Larry Brown...who seems to be at the center of your post. Most of us said that if Nazr got consistent minutes he'd be worth the contract which he proved to be the case after we first acquired him. Used as he is it's a bad contract.

Re: Nice veteran team!
spin it anyway you want.
1. I do like the addition of Diaw, he fits very well playing along side Mek. I was just pointing out the money we keep getting in return.
2. I don't care that the management liked him this offseason, we still added over $11 mil to our cap
3. like points 1 and 2 I was just pointing out the $10 mil plus we added. You can look at it as 1.5 mil a year if the $7 mil he is owed after that was not their. You say 1.5 mil, I say 10 mil. Still alot of unneeded cap hell
4. I said "look at the deals our front office has made" not LB. The moves this year are all LB
And as far as NY is conserned, I believe the majority of the horrable contracts were made while LB was pulling the strings (Curry huge deal plus giving 2 lottery picks was LB, Jefferies huge deal was LB, James Jones boat load of a contract was LB, trading for Malik Rose and his deal was LB,)

Re: Nice veteran team!
There is no spin...talent wins games, cap space (in Charlotte) leads you to mediocre FAs like Maggette in GSW.
How do you know Rad will be here in '11? He'll be an expiring, and as Hamilton noted in the other thread his contract will be big enough to net something decent as compared to May's paltry 2.6 million.
Either way, it not just about the money...and since you've followed Charlotte you should know that. This team needs to win. Brown is building a real team, and with the paltry assets he had to work with the only recourse was to take on salary. Thank God they realized that and are willing to go that route...else we'd be mired in mediocrity for decades with the way this franchise has selected in the draft.
I could be mistaken, but wasn't NY's salary over 100 million before Brown came on board? And more than just that season?

Re: Nice veteran team!
LB can be blamed for James and Curry but had nothing to do with Jeffries (Zeke signed him after LB left) or Malik (Zeke traded him before LB). I must add that I have a lot of difficulty dumping Curry and James on LB considering how terrible of a job Isiah did in NY during his tenure, but since people attribute the Jalen Rose and Steve Francis acquisitions to LB, I guess I'll concede the point. On second thought, if we think the Diop move was a move we made to appease LB, I guess you can make a connection to Jerome James (in which case, what were you thinking LB?!) but I'll still take exception to Curry. Anyway, Bobcats:
Raja ended up being *gulp* awesome. Boris is probably about as hit and miss as Richardson. Something is up with the Hammer (2-10 in Dallas, 0 3pa) and I don't think anyone misses Hollins (okay, except Mrs. Lever) and I really believe Gana's best games are ahead of him (Bell only really started getting his props after his first injury, like, a month after the trade). I guess I'm being a homer, but If I would've had the option of playing Radmanovic instead of Brown or Morrison from the beginning of the season I'm pretty sure I wouldn't hesitate to give him those minutes. I think the structure of the team has come a long way since the preseason.

If you feal that adding the Diop's, VladRad's, Nazr's, S.Singeltary's, Raja Bell's, and Boris Diaw's (who I like) of the world will help win, that is your choice. The great role playing free agents that we have signed like L.Johnson (cut), A.Brown (cut), D.Jones(cut), S.Brown(given up on), J.Howard (good move, but OLD and will not be around when this team wins) will lead you the same way. LB will build a team with no talent that only he can coach then he will stab you in the back and quit because the team can not win! He will throw Rod and even the untouhable MJ under the bus and say that they did not get him what he asked for! Sound familiar? Give VladRad 2 weeks before LB trashes him for shooting too much and not playing D.
NY was in bad salary hell before LB and even worse after LB, Charlotte was in good salary condition before LB and will be in hell after LB.
Don't get me wronge, I want the Bobcats to do well and love the city, but this organization is horrable and does nothing to win! Maybe instead of trading all the bad draft choices they have made and overpaying the few FA's that they got they should look into drafting better players or signing people that can play. If they had a clue and drafted different the team would be alot better.

Dude you need to chill out. Adding Boris Diaw and Raja Bell definitely helps us win. Look at our record prior to them arriving. We were in great position to make the playoffs and then GW goes down.
Bringing up Andre Brown, Linton Johnson, Dwayne Jones, Shannon Brown (who overall did a good job for us), and Sean Singletary (who came in the Suns trade) as mistakes is just stupid. None of those guys were given big contracts. I don't think a single one was or is making a million dollars. They were not brought in to be "great role players." Diop is giving us more than Carroll or Hollins were this season. We needed another big body next to Okafor.

Re: Nice veteran team!
One thing I do like about some of these trades is that we are adding players who have been around a winning culture. Diaw/Bell, Diop, and now Radmanovic, all have been a part of winning teams recently. Outside of Richardson's playoff run that one year, you can't say the same for the other players we sent out to get them.

I tried to tell you guys LB is like that.
There is absolutely no future with him. It's all about the right now. His problem is he thinks if he gets just 1 more vet he'll be set.
Dont get me wrong Radman is better then Morrison and Brown and they got the better deal basketball wise.
I am assuming he is insurance policy for the big 3 upfront.
I agree a vet guard will probably be next but I am not sure that's a bad thing because that's what there missing.
Larry Brown hates stars.

There is no future in Larry Brown? Tell me something, Dexmor. Where was this team heading with its cast of players it had at the beginning of the season? Half of our roster should have been in the NBDL as opposed to being in the NBA.
