Can Bobcats make a run at Amare
Don't have an NBA team in STL so I like to root for the Bobcats, although with all the recent roster moves this year not sure about their finacial situation. Always thought Okafor would be better at PF so Amare seems like a perfect fit, 26 young and a proven offensive force, plus allows Okafor to move to PF. Do they have the money to make the move or is it even reasonable? I know they will have a high draft pick as a barganing chip.
Just wondering what you guys thought and looking forward to comments

You would play Amare at Center like he did before the Marion/Shaq Deal. I believe the suns were alot better when Amare played Center then they are now. I just think an Amare/Okafor pairing would give you a perfect Offense Defense pairing.

I agree with you partly Countryboi, that right now he is not a superstar yet. But he is only 26 he WILL become a superstar and I think if any team that can lock him up will be immediately better. And he is proven you wont have to take a chance on drafting another Dirt Stash Morrison.

Well, we couldn't offer Bell or Diaw and Suns want to cut salary. The best we could offer is May, Felton, DJ and Alexis and we're still 2m short.

Re: Can Bobcats make a run at Amare
I'd love to see an Amare trade happen, but yeah we don't really have the pieces. I bet we would need to give up Wallace, and probably Alexis/DJ or Alexis/Felton to make it work... and even that I don't see them agreeing to. Maybe if we threw an unprotected 2009 draft pick in there.

On second look, I guess we have about enough in trade exceptions from Dudley and Hollins to make the DJ/Felton/Ajinça/May deal work.

Well, if Amare came here he would be the 4 and Okafor would be the 5. Amare get's eaten alive when he play's the 5. At the 4 he will be killed then eaten.
Humble yourself.

I would not like to see that. Re-joining Boris and Amare - are you sure about that chemistry? And the primadonna thing of course. I like the team how it is and I don't really think Larry would like Amare's attitude.

Re: Can Bobcats make a run at Amare
Personally I think Amare is ridiculously awesome and would love to have him on the team... a pairing with Okafor would be awesome. I think we can work it out with Diaw on the team too... playing some 3 and some 4 he will get over 30 mins. The more reasonable problem is what kind of deal would actually be acceptable to the Suns and meets salary requirements. Giving away what few guards we have, for instance, doesn't seem like a very positive move.

Don't you guys remember the comment he made? He isn't gonna stay and there not going for him.
And Amare would play the 4 not the 5 on this team. Amare would be the more important player which means you put him against the smaller guy for less bang. It makes sence.

It has nothing to do with "less bang." Amare is a boy amongst men at center. And for a team built on defense, Okafor would be the more important player IMO. Amare being our best rebounder would not be good.
Humble yourself.

We don't have any one to trade for him. Would be nice though. In the east he'd be a damn monster.

Re: Can Bobcats make a run at Amare
If he's going for cheap, we could probably send them Wallace and DJ as the main pieces. I would do that, I would trade anyone on this roster, really any two guys on this roster for Amare because you can build a team around him. Can't say that for any of the other guys on this roster...

Re: Can Bobcats make a run at Amare
Gerald doesn't work. They are only contemplating trading Amare to benefit $arver'$ wallet, not the team. Wallace has too large and long of a contract. We would be required to add Mohammed to any deal in order for it to work. To further complicate things, none of Bell, Singletary or Diaw can be included. To make matters even MORE difficult, Radmanovic, Howard and Martin can't be traded until after the deadline and Okafor is BYC. Keeping that in mind, these are the ONLY trade combinations that work:
Okafor + Mohammed + Ajinça/May/Augustin
Okafor + Felton +Ajinça + May/Augustin
Okafor + Felton + May + Augustin
Wallace + Felton (+ any 2 of DJ, May and Ajinça)
Wallace + DJ + May + Ajinça
Wallace +Ajinca + May/Augustin
Mohammed + DJ + May + Felton + Augustin
Mohammed + any 3 above
I guess it's possible we could take Phoenix's "bad" contracts back, but Barbosa is pretty coveted from what I've read. Otherwise, above are our options, and you have to consider that no matter what Phoenix is taking back a contract at a length of 2, 3 or 5 additional seasons, but since they want to cut money now to avoid the luxury tax, I have to believe they'd listen to our offer last and we'd have to offer one of the crazier groups above (read: DJ + Felton).

After what Diaw did to Amare, i'm not willing to give up too much for him.

I think Amare prefers going to a winning team.
