IS DJ available? POR fan

Post#1 » by Blazinaway » Tue Feb 10, 2009 3:21 pm

here, am I correct that DJ "might" be available and you guys keep Felts instead? I ask because a little while back there was a rumor that POR was seriously talking to an East Coast team about a PG and SF, and that one of the players recently became available. There are several SF/PG combos in the East but I remember hearing that our GM Pritchard really liked DJ.

So I ask myself that if POR wanted DJ and Wallace what does Char need most? Perhaps Raef's great expiring and Bayless and picks? A backup PG like Serg, Outlaw or Webster, Frye, and/or taking back a bad contract you want to dump like Nazr?

Thoughts guys?

portland has a ton of players that any team in the league would love to have. so i am sure there is a package portland could offer that would get them back dj and wallace.

that being said, dont expect it to be cheap. wallace is our best player and dj is a rookie with an extremely bright future. you dont trade those kind of players w/out getting something really really good in return.

fyi - LB and MJ are not interested in traded good players for cap space. we've proven to be interested in doing the opposite. so, i dont think there would be much interest for raef.

First off I doubt I'd do this, but no Blazers' fan will entertain any of LMA/Roy/Oden so:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=

Crash/Nazr/DJ

for

Przybilla/Bayless/Outlaw/Blake 1st

Przybilla upgrading from Nazr is the cost for POR upgrading from Bayless to DJ.
Outlaw/Blake/1st for Crash.

It'd also work to substitute Rodriquez in for the 1st (we could also add May), but if we got Blake then they'd probably need him for depth.

Keep Blake and Rodriquez , I'd want Rudy.

Crash, DJ, Nazzy, McMay

for

Rudy, Bayless, Outlaw, Przybilla, Frye

Felts - Bayless - Singletary
Bell - Rudy
Outlaw - Rad - Bling
Boris - Howard - Lex - Frye
EO50 - Diop - Przybilla

Would you really consider it tho? Almost every time the team who gets the best player wins the trade and IMO we're giving up the best 2.

I'm liking the bench we've grown in the last couple of weeks and all we really need is a 2 guard to be pretty set throughout the rotation.

I should have started my thread with "First off I doubt I'd do this, but no Blazers' fan will entertain any of LMA/Roy/Oden so:" so it made more sense - because I feel the same way.

I'm just saying that in order to get any interest from me at all, Rudy would have to be included long before someone like Blake.

In saying that - you don't think a bench that has Rudy and Frye on it is better than a bench that has no real back up at the 2 spot and Mc6Pounds on it?

We all value our own players higher than others, POR says a big and easy easy no. It appears POR's best bet to use Raef's expiring to get an SF upgrade like R Jefferson who most MIL fans would be happy to trade for Raef and our pick or raef and webster. We could also likely get Hinrich for Blake and Outlaw or Webster, a much cheaper route for us to get. Thanks guys

Then there's no way I would entertain Blazers fans by letting them think they could get Wallace and Augustin for leftovers.

You know we are having good time with some depth and want o gel them a bit (only 5 players on roster were bobcats last season - Felton, Wallace, May, Okafor, Mohammed). I think we have a solid rotation especially if healthy and oif you add Larry Brown finding the best of each player and squeezing it out of them, we are good. See:

Felton - Augustin - Singletary
Bell - (Augustin), (Martin)
Wallace - (Diaw), Radmanovic, Martin
Diaw - (Okafor), (Radmanovic), Howard, Ajinça - May
Okafor - Diop - Mohammed, (Ajinça)

() - out of his best position, but can play there

Yep, I'm happy with our team right now, assuming we get healthy. We will have a deeper, more experienced roster. I wouldn't make a trade just for the sake of making a trade. Unless it's something like Mohammed/May for someone, we should just look to use the MLE to bolster our bench even further in the offseason.

Once healthy, we'll have a nice 8-man rotation of Felton/Bell/Augustin/Wallace/Diaw/Radmanvoic/Okafor/Diop.

I definitely agree we need a 2 guard, but I don't know that I'd be willing to move all that to get him. Plus he's more offense than defense. That might actually work (have to think about it), but generally I'd like some defense in that 2nd guard rotation.

Frye...I really lost a lot of lust for him (for lack of a better term). Rad can play the 4 and most likely Frye would be behind him in the rotation, esp. when Crash gets back.

Say we do May for McCants:

Felton/DJ/Singletary
Raja/McCants
Crash/Rad/Martin
Boris/Howard/Ajinca
Mek/Diop/Nazr

is pretty solid IMO. I think my biggest problem is that winning streak when all the starters were healthy and we had no bench. Now that we have one I really want to see what we can do.

I understand that, and every team wants to trade quantity for quality. You do have to "give" to "get" however, and unless you can find a team where money is the biggest issue for them (and Milwaukee may indeed fit that bill) then most likely you'd be left wanting.

And there's a reason Milwaukee wants to trade ****...and not necessarily because Redd went down either.

not sure why the bucks are looking to clear cap space. they have the same problem we do. no decent FA is going to chose milwaukee as a destination to play.

Dickie didn't like being traded to Milwaukee and hasn't lived up to his hype. If Redd hadn't went down they could have made the playoffs, but as it stands most likely they won't...so gettting an expiring for his pouting behind would most likely thrill them.

i get why they want to trade jefferson, i just dont get why they want to trade him for cap space.

unless they are just being really cheap, i dont see how it will help. they wont be able to sign anyone with that money. why not trade jefferson and at least got a good young player in return. as much as i hate the dude, he's still good and worthy of something valuable in a trade.

I've seen rumors that the owner wants to sell the team (but wants the new owner to keep it in Milwaukee), so reducing payroll would go along in helping that. Who knows tho; if I were them I'd want some talent back.

I mentioned this deal on the Wolves board a few days ago and now with Jefferson out for the season it makes perfect sense.
