Don't kill me, but....

I think we should make a play for Vince Carter.
We have the salaries to match and I think NJ wouldn't mind having Gerald and say Ajinca.
Note: I am not a UNC fan.
I think that Carter would solve all our offensive problems, he'd finish his career here, put butts in the seats, play hard under Larry Brown and make our playoff push complete.
PG: Felton/Augustin
SG: Bell/Felton
SF: Vince Mo'fo' Carter
PF: Diaw
C: Okafor
You got it all. Thats your team.

No thank you. Wallace > Carter at this point in their careers, and he is also younger. I want no part of VC unless we trade Nazr and May to get him somehow.

Looking at his game logs for this season, his games are sporadic...but still way better than Gerald Wallace and even more consistent. Listen, I love the guy...but even Vince is healthier than Gerald....plus Vince has that superstar persona that can take over games and get calls from the refs, and is instantly our go-to guy in the stretch (and not Felton.)
Yes he's 32, but when his contract is up we don't have to renew it.

Yeah...LB would just love him and his awesome defense.
We just traded away an offensive player with a high contract, but yet we should trade Crash for another on an even more expensive deal?
I don't think so.

Not an option. VC would be a lousy SF and all our defensive gains would be lost.

I was thinking about this the other day but didn't have the courage coolio has and also didn't think Nets would bite, BUT
1. VC for Nazr/May/Felton- Carter's 4 year 60m(maybe it's even more, don't remember atm) turns into Nazr's 3 year 19 deal. We don't really have picks and with Harris/Dooling I was thinking maybe it's a 3 way with Felton going to Portland and Shavlik + Frye go to NJ and Portland throws in a pick and we add a 2nd? NJ erases the Carter extension and gets a lot of expiring guys, Portland gets to try out Felton for 30+ games.
2. VC for Diaw/May/Ajinça- Better player than Mohammed at a higher price tag. Carter is a good enough playmaker to do what Diaw does and we can play Radman at the 4.

VC's defensive problem is motivation. You can't sit there and tell me that Gerald is any better an on-the-ball defender than VC.
When you have a chance to get a #1 option, you take that chance. VC would benefit from the players around him in the starting lineup and from LB's coaching style.
As for Walt's sugggetions, that would mean benching either Raja, VC, or Wallace. All 3 would really not want to come off the bench. But yeah, if we can get him for those (although I think we really should keep Diaw) then go ahead.

As much as this team needs a scorer, I don't think VC is the answer. He will draw fans here and putting him in with quality players around him might work, but his age and his contract are concerns.

Comeon, we are the Bobcats. We still have one of the lowest payrolls in the league. Contract shouldn't be an issue, and his contract isn't really that bad. Very modest for a star player.

Former star player. I really don't want him, the injury concerns are what would scare me away. LB places a premium on defense, and that's what he won with in Detroit.

He's simply not worth $66.5 million dollars over 4 years.
I'd pass.

VC will age fine since he's such a good passer and shooter.
Coolio-I think Bell and Wallace would just swap being 6th man depending on the matchup night to night. PG/Bell/Carter/Diaw/Okafor and PG/Carter/Wallace/Diaw/Okafor give us two good options depending if the opposition's backcourt is big or small. Wallace gets injured for 20 games a year as it is, maybe it's a little less than that if he assumes a Manu type role?

He came pretty close to winning with a undersized scorer surrounded by defensive minded role players as well...
Also, LOL at former star player.

VC would be great but could he stay healthy and would he be willing to re-sign with Charlotte. I wouldn't trade Wallace to get him. Maybe some package that includes Raja/Felton/Nazr and 1st round pick for Carter/Najera.

Carter has been re-signed, so that's not an issue. Re health: 79, 82, 76 games played while in NJ for full seasons and he's played in 52 games so far this year.

I don't think that works for us. Vince won't get us anywhere if we have to give up Wallace and take on that massive salary. It was a mistake to give him that much and now NJ is trying to get rid of it.

VC has definitely been worth 14m this season. NJ does one of two things: Turns some of these young pieces into Amare and goes for it with Amare/Harris/Carter or they dump Carter for 2010 cash. My Nazr proposal gives them a 6.5m expiring trade chip in 2010 and gets them out of their commitment to Carter so that they can try to max one of the fas + sign another guy.

Even if the Bobcats are good right now, they still don't have a true star. Bringing in somebody like VC could mean the difference between an 8th seed and a 3rd. Maybe that's why we're stockpiling all these vets with big contracts. If not Vince then maybe they have someone else in mind.
From the looks of it after checking other sites on the VC issue, we'd have to offer a lot to get him. We don't have any big expiring contracts that would interest them and it would probably take 2 or 3 starters to get him.

Not enough people look at the other team. They are not gonna want Wallace. They are gonna want all young prospects, picks and expriring which is why the Hill,Mason rumor is afloat.
Why don't people ever look at both sides?
Is it just blind hope to have hope or are you really that hit by homerism you cant be realistic.
And Wallace>Carter? Give me a break.
