We can make our roster better this year
This is the closest we have ever been to the playoffs and this is our best team in franchise history. We can get even better.
I understand we are going to try and trade Nazi next year but were not gonna get anything for him and we should think about this season. If we buy him out we can sign 2 players being that we have 14 and take away Nazi we have 2 open roster spots. We also have 3 centers now with Mek, Diop, Lex.
We need a backup sg.
Bonzi Wells- is a free agent and can be had for the min and would be much much better then having Nazi. Bonzi Wells I am actually not sure why he is not on an nba team. Bonzi Wells would make a great backup sg for us. He is a veteran so he should fit right it and he is a rebounding sg. He rebounds like a forward which is always gonna be important to us with Diaw on our team.
Last year he averaged 9 points 5 rebounds and 1 steal in 21 minutes. We could give him at least 15.
He could actually play 20-25 minutes and get 12 for us considering we don't have alot of scorers and most players average seem to be going up when they come to us like Bell,Diaw,Radman.
Ruben Patterson-He can play sg and is still an excellent defender. Also a vet so fits right in. With his defense he can totally be a Larry Brown guy. As a backup sg he can give us 15 minutes for sure and give the backup wings fits and considering Wallace and Bell give the starters fits he would be very good. Again alot more production and use then Nazi would give us. Ruben Patterson averaged 14 2 years ago and 5 points and 1 steal in 16 minutes last year. Considering he is all D it's not bad.
We have 14 players and if we cut Nazi that's 13 so we can get them both. I think we should.
Mek/Diop/Lex
Diaw/Howard/May
Wallace/Martin/Radman
Bell/Bonzi/Ruben
Felton/DJ/Sean
To me that team would put the D in deep. Lex and Sean and Sean are non rotation guys who should only play garbadge minutes but the other 12 are all rotation players that can be playing good minutes. We would have an awesome bench, probably deepest bench in the league. We would have rotations players 1-12. Most teams have a 8-9 man rotation. Of course there could be a reason why there fa's I don't know about. All our guys would be veterans to who have playoff expierence which LB loves.

Re: We can make our roster better this year
No way the FA cuts Nazr. He'll be as valuable as half of Raef Lafrentz's Expiring Contract in just 1 season, and RLEC was valued by Pritchard as being more valuable than Amare... so we're talking about like a lottery pick here.
If LB/the FO wanted to sign Patterson or Wells, they would've already, we've had the roster spot for forever.

Doesn't Nazi have 2 years remaining after this year? O.K. well we keep Nazi and take out May.
Can you name why we a team who are full of vets and need a 2 shouldn't go for those 2.

2 years remaining means that in one season he'll be an expiring contract=valuable.

Re: We can make our roster better this year
But it's 3 years remaining including this year. Doesn't that mean not next year the year after he will be valuable? If your right then surely keep him but they can do both by letting May go and he will still come off the books at the end.
Bonzi Wells is a big risk big reward type guy. A Bell/Wells sg combo is very formatable and just think of the rebounding if we spend half a quarter with a lineup of DIop/Mek/Wallace/Wells/Felton or Diaw. Not as a starting lineup but for stretches. We would get all the boards.
He is a guy who is capable of getting 20 on any given night and like I said we don't have alot of scorers he would defenately get double digits off the bench.

Ruben Patterson is the knucklehead of all knuckleheads, 0 interest there. I couldn't find the Deadspin story about how he stole a teammates luggage one day, just to steal it, because it was sitting there unprotected.
Wells just seems like another volume scorer that is getting a bit old. I would prefer to pick up a young 2 from the D.

I don't like Ruben Patterson either. He got into a fight with Zack Randolph and on top of that is a sex offender.
As for getting a young 2 from the D league the best your gonna get is a Koby Carl. I mean Cartier Martin is not terrible but not a very good player by any stretch but people are so happy with him because nobody thought a d league would be this good.
Your telling me you wouldn't want Bonzi Wells over a Dleaguer?
Is it really bad if we have a volume shooter when we have no 20 point a game scorer, and we have
Mek-mostly scores on open shots and put backs
Diaw-likes to pass alot
Wallace-mostly scores on garbadge points
Bell-Is a defensive player
Felton-Scores but a big passer
DJ-a scorer but also a pg
Diop-Not a scorer
Radman-Basically just a open 3 point shooter
May-no time
Lex-no time
Sean-no time
Nazi-no time
Juwan-Not a volume shooter or a big scorer at all
Martin-Clearly not a big scorer
This is our team. Why not have a volume shooter. It's not like it's gonna cost us more then 500,000 dollars or a good player. We literally have a spot and need scoring, rebounding, and a backup 2. There is a sg out there who can score rebound and can be had for nothing. We are close to our first playoffs and can possibly even get the 7th seed. Why not take the chance.
Your telling me if your MJ you don't pick him up?

No need in messing with the chemistry the team currently has.

Why is Wells in that list? What did he do? Also he can still play. Vernon and the other players cant play.
What did Lonny Baxter do? I don't remember hearing about him screwing up but I know he must of with him being out.

I consider this year to be mostly over. Some teams don't mind guys w/ 2 years remaining because they can afford to wait until they are expiring and turn them into something of value.
I don't see any reason to cut Mohammed outright. You do that to players like Francis or Marbury because they're cancerous to the team's growth. Mohammed is a good locker room guy...

^ Exactly, and why it made no sense to me to trade an asset just to get rid of basically 1 year and a couple of months of Nazr's contract. We're talking what, 8 million we have to eat before he's an expiring?

I hope your right and we can get some backup 2 for Nazi. Good peremiter players are pretty commen so we should be able to do that. We might even be able to draft a good backup sg and let Nazi's contract expire.
Why is Wells in the trouble maker category and Baxter?

Bonzi Wells- I've got to think that hes a much worse teammate then he lets on. That or hes holding for a certain amount of money. Because I really think he would be a good fit here, and a number of other teams, and there he is still a free agent.
Ruben Patterson- never, never, never...With Raja Bell it makes less sense to add a 6'5" SF.

Wells was playing for a team in China and then after a break he just didn't show back up.
As for Baxter. From Wiki:
On August 16, 2006, Baxter was arrested in Washington, D.C., only a few blocks from the White House after firing a .40 caliber Glock handgun into the air. On August 23, 2006, Baxter was sentenced to 60 days in prison after pleading guilty to possession of an unregistered firearm and unregistered ammunition charges. The judge in the case did not accept the plea bargain that had been arranged with the prosecution for a sentence of time served.
"There's no good reason for a person who's not working in law enforcement or presidential protection to be in possession of a loaded weapon within blocks of the White House, let alone to fire it into the air," Iscoe said.
Baxter was later charged with shipping four guns via FedEx in July 2006 without notifying them that the shipment contained firearms. Baxter pled guilty to this crime on July 19, 2007. [1] He has been sentenced to 60 days in jail, two years of supervised release and a $2,000 fine on August 31, 2007

bonzi wells - from wiki
DUDE IS A FLAKE.
Bonzi however did have his share of on and off the court incidents. During his tenure with the Blazers, Bonzi was suspended for two games for publicly cursing at his coach after being taken out of a game. Bonzi was also fined in a separate incident for making an obscene gesture to a fan in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. When asked by a media reporter about the incident, he said, "I black out sometimes".[6] Wells was suspended one game without pay and fined $10,000 for intentionally striking and verbally abusing an official in 2000. Bonzi and teammate Erick Barkley in 2001 were cited for criminal trespass after they refused to follow the order of an officer to leave the scene of a fight near a downtown nightclub.[7] This only went to further the team's derisive nickname, Portland Jail Blazers. Trail Blazers management made an oath to the City of Portland to have a team of upstanding Portlanders and drastically restructured the team. In an exchange that emphasized the urgency to release Wells, he was sent to the Memphis Grizzlies in a trade for reserve guard Wesley Person.
Citing undisclosed reasons by Fratello, he was suspended in Game 2 of the series against the powerhouse Phoenix Suns.
Wells was not pleased with his playing time, and neither was coach Jeff Van Gundy with Wells' weight and lack of conditioning.[14] Van Gundy placed Wells on the inactive list, dismissed him from team practices for over a month, and relegated him to working with trainers and on the exercise bicycle to improve his conditioning. Unsatisfied with his progress, Van Gundy eventually told him to stay away from the Toyota Center.
On April 9, Wells failed to show up for a road trip to face the Seattle SuperSonics. His status was unknown, but it was reported that he left a message on athletic trainer Keith Jones' answering machine. In it, he said he felt like he was "disrupting team chemistry."[15]
Wells' contract with the team was terminated on February 2, 2009, after he failed to promptly return to the team after the Chinese New Year break.[1]

Re: We can make our roster better this year
Seeing he hasn't played since January I can imagine Bonzi is probably as big as a house now.
I would prefer Luke Jackson from D-League. 6'7 averaging 17 pts, 5 bds, 5 ass at 45% shooting (45% from 3 too)

Re: We can make our roster better this year
At this late date, we wouldn't be able to get that perfect mix of right for the player AND right for the team when we are talking veterans. Get the best and brightest of the unattached D'leaguer. I'd like to catch a little more lightnin' in a bottle like we have with Hammer and Bling.
L-P was right. When we are staring into a playoff fight, chemistry is the key. Let someone else mess with the Bonzis and Reubens. The guys in our locker room have the good fight to fight. They should be rewarded with no distractions from the "look at me" horn-tooters. Take a pass. Work the magic on draft night. And CLAW on!

Luke seems to be too good for the minors and not good enough for the NBA. I wouldn't mind seeing him invited to camp, but I wouldn't expect much out of him.

Re: We can make our roster better this year
I was wondering what happened to Erik Barkley.
Unless there is something behind the scened I don't know about I would get Marcus Williams. After his rookie year they almost gave away Kidd and handed him the reighns. He hit the sophmore slump a little but didn't get the pt to work out of it.
The Warriors said he is a halfcourt player which is why he didn't get pt. We could use him if our new DJ doesn't work.
I would probably get the best scoring sg that won't embarss himself on D and is a vet and isn't turnover prone. Maybe DJ is that guy but I here his offense is bad but he did average 18 so how bad can it be?
