Should we resign Sean May?
I know no one would have even considered this at the beginning of the season and some of you probably don't right now, but you have to admit that he has proven that he wants to play here in the garbage minutes given to him since the weight loss (if ever actually did get to the magic number). I think he lacks the self control and a demanding coach is all he needed in the pros. His knee problems are always an issue but do you guys think he could fit into that Juwan Howard role if we sign him to a cheap, short contract? I wasn't into the team in the years that he attempted to play, but does he look in better shape now or when he first joined the team? How injury prone is he?

Re: Should we resign Sean May?
I would sign him for 3 years at a million dollars per year with team options on the 2nd and 3rd years and tell him he owes it to the team to sign the contract because he has milked the team for the past 4 years and it's time that he gave a little back.

I would leave this decision up to Larry Brown. He's the one to deal with him, if he thinks that May can play, then keep him, if not, let him try to con some other squad into a contract.

We've stuck with May this long. If his health seems to be improving and he is showing a commitment to his career, this is a very low risk move. Sean May is not going to receive any major offers, so for a small contract, that seems like a solid move. However, if he has not shown a major commitment to improve, then now's the time to move on.

I'll second that, but I don't expect much.

Absolutely not. I live in NC so I decided to lose weight because 1.I gained from being married and 2.It's hot here and I want to were sleveless if I need to in the hot weather 3.I want to join a basketball league so I went from 260 to 185 in 6 months. He is in the nba. He couldn't stay or get in shape? He is weak or doesn't care and I don't want somebody liek him.

A player is showing mild interest in a contract year, how shocking.
In other news;
Oranges are Orange. Warm water is warm, while cold water is hot. Cinco de Mayo comes in May. Also, New Years Eve will be on December 31st this year.

I didn't know how bad Bonzi was and MCcants at least can put the ball in the hole.
Plus he hasn't been worked with LB yet and May has and nothing. At least McCants works out.

Re: Should we resign Sean May?
I say if Chicago clearly has us beat near the end of the season, we should start Mcmay along with the rest of our second unit and kick some ass. As for his him trying to contribute in his contract year, I think this is kind of true, but where would he be this season had we kept Ham Biscuit? He would have started every game this season at 290 until he got injured again then he'd probably be out of the NBA altogether. He needed a tough love coach that he respects and Brown is exactly the coach he needed. Besides, if Brown didn't have any faith in him, he would have cut him and tried out some other scrub a long time ago. As long as Brown is here, I think he should stay and could be playing 20 minutes a game next season if he's kept in check. I'm sure that as soon as he signs that million dollar contract, he's gonna be running for the nearest golden corral and/or pizza inn. As long as he loses the weight in training camp and in top form for preseason doesn't matter to me.

Think about how much excersizing you do being in the nba. How much cardio is a practice. Plus they have weight room sessions. It takes detication to do all that and still be fat. It can't be easy to be fat and do all that working out.
He needs to go to an overeating annoynoums group.

I know you were joking, but it's actually a pretty good point. By all reports McMay runs endless wind sprints and rides the bike a lot. We have to assume that he is at least participating in practices. How is it even possible that he couldn't get down to 260? What is he shoving in his gob at night when no one is looking?
Maybe he is like some sort of pelican man and he hides full pizza's in his ample jowls for later so when he is weighed the extra hidden pizza's are adding a few pounds?

Re: Should we resign Sean May?
Exactly, he has the opposite of will power. With the way those guys work out and at his height he could basically eat anything you want without getting fat. If you get Fat you have to be eating all day everyday. It's pathetic. He probably has a full pizza pie and a veal parm hero for lunch, probably has eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast and pancakes for breakfast and he must eat 4 chinese combo plates for dinner and Big Macs and Whoppers with fries and mid day snacks.
He would seriously have to eat more then 12,000 calories to be fat with the working out.
Right now I have runners knee and rotator cuff so the only excirese I can do is crunches. I do 1000 every other day and I lost 75 pounds in less then 6 months. If I can do it why can't he with proffesional trainers and basketball?

if he goes down to 260, we play him
if he goes down to 210, we re-sign him
if he goes down to 190, we start him

Ur kidding right? I wouldn't want my pf to weight 210 or less. 190 would be impossible.
Is he at 260 right now?

Re: Should we resign Sean May?
We've been through a four year contract with Donuts. Put more money in front of him and he heads back to the trough. His NBA reputation will probably lead him to no jobs, save maybe Indiana (his back-home team). Or, maybe Cheapie McShinn will take him in New Orleans as a replacement for Tyson Chandler-all the while thinking he's "screwing the Bobcats" by signing May.
I think that come April 15th, if we haven't clinched a playoff spot, this franchise should have seen the last of May. To sign him might be cheap, but it is throwing good money after bad. I'm dying to see that roster spot be productive after four years of the injury bug.
Not blaming May for this, but think back... the first year May was on the roster, was the year that Emeka had his ankle problem. And last year, first May went down, then Ammo- both for the year. He's bad luck in bringing the team injuries. (Wasn't he drafted 13th?) Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Heck yeah, I'm superstitious!
Let's convert this roster spot into a player who can PLAY!

He can shoot and rebound. I don't know about defensively, but he does have the talent to be in the NBA.
But it is a contract year and he hasn't really had the type of year that warrants a new contract.
If it's a 10 day contract, sign him.
