A tale of two Charlotte players

I moved my nose out of the NBA section of the sports pages to see that the Carolina Panthers' Julius Peppers' agent is hanging the Panthers out to dry this off season because of the Panthers putting the NFL Franchise Tag on Peppers. Something about instructing Peppers not to sign his tender offer to maintain total control of where he gets traded. I know a lot of you follow the Panthers too and was wondering what you thought about this situation.

I also wanted to mention that the Bobcats still have to look forward to getting Raymond Felton re-signed in the off season. My hope is that this particular "negotiation" will be totally amicable.

I understand it from Peppers viewpoint, but it pisses me off. The Panthers and he need to come to an agreement to sign the tender and they will do everything humanly possible to effect a trade to a team he likes. Face it, if he doesn't like the team they want to deal with, all he has to say is "I wont sign with them long term" and there will be no deal. No one is going to give up a 1st rounder plus for a one yr guy. It will be to a team Pepper's likes and Carolina will get something of value. Maybe not of equal value, but they will also cut lose of almost $17 million off the salary which is huge.

I think Felton will sign for less than we think it will take. He wants to stay in Charlotte, and I dont see any team paying him huge $ that we cant match. And I dont see it being unpleasant at all.

I'm not worrying about it. He's played out his contract and spent his whole career here and if he wants to leave now that's his choice.

I just want to see some results from the Peppers situation get done. The Panthers wanted more from the Patriots then that one 2nd round pick. Hopefully something gets resolved. Compared that with the Felton situation. At least we have security at the point if Felton leaves. With Peppers, he would be leaving an already disappointing defensive line.
