April 7th Hammers: Bobcats vs Sixers

You're slackin' Slam!

Gold: Felton - Career high 32pts, 6 boards, 5 dimes... carried us at one point. It's amazing how he looks when his shot is falling and tonight he had a nice arc and rhythm on most of his shots.
Silver: Wallace - disappeared for a while but came up with some big plays when we needed 'em. Lots of hustle the whole game. He got illegally screened about 4 times and there was no foul call.
Bronze: Diaw - he hit some timely shots when we needed 'em.

HM: DJ. He missed some open 3's tonight, but still controlled the ball well. That defense is a problem though, he's gotta work on that this summer to get to the next level.

Same as yours. Okafor also hit the boards well tonight. Augustine is getting abused on defense, but its hard since he's got limited defensive potential. He'll learn and get better later on but some people are just gonna abuse him every time. Also don't expect Felton to put these numbers up often, the Tarheels can only win one national championship a year.

Why was DJ's D considered so bad tonight but Felton's was ok?

I think it was in the third when they made that run, he was getting posted up by Miller, and someone was always coming over to double leaving someone wide open. Thats when they hit all those threes. That just stood out.

Really it wasn't just DJ, I don't know why players don't rotate better to the open player.

Felton
Wallace
Diop - we needed some inside defensive help and I thought he was key

A few notes from the game:
- Since I always ride Slam for his blatent one-sided bashing of Felton, its only fair that I paint players with a consistant brush. BOTH Felton and DJ were owned on defense last night. Neither of them did well at all when the Sixers stepped up the physical play. Lots of whining and flopping from both of them. Our entire team clearly suffers against physical play and hopes the refs bail them out.
- Felton was clearly feeling it early and it was awesome to see. Sadly, this probably means he goes 2-20 against the Thunder. Consistancy Ray, come on!!
- Marquis Spreights (forgive the likely spelling error) is a beast. Big dude and very active. Watch out for that guy going fwd.
- Mek just can't handle big front lines. If wasn't Delembart (sp again, I suck), it was Ratliff. If not Ratliff, Spreights. He did hit a nice 10ft bank shot though.
- I kinda like Louis Williams too. Slippery little fella.
- Odd and then classless move from the PA system folks. First they play some Rocky music (the training scenes, pump you up stuff) in the waning minutes. Hello!!! We're playing Philly. Then after the win, they play the Rocky celebratory music. That seemed unsportsmanlike to me.
- Lets hope we never see the green jerseys again.

- I don't think I bash Felts with bias at all. I think I praise him when he does well equally as I call him out when he does bad. Maybe it's just that his bad is more telling than it is not? For eg, he had a wonderful scoring night last night with his jump shot, but dude, those turn overs were horrible.

- Someone noticed that Felts was "on" last night so it was good to see him play a little more off the ball and allow DJ to run the point so that Felts could keep racking up the points. He's such a different player when he takes his time.

- Totally agree about Speights. Every time I have seen him I've been impressed. He's all power and shows great timing. Got to wonder how the heck they'll fit Brand back in next season?

- I didn't think EO50 was too bad last night? He didn't get too many looks on offense and it's not like their bigs "went off"?

- Lou is really, really quick. He has that "Monta" feel about him. He knows how to turn people inside out and how to score.

- Very, very poor form.

- Amen to that! I don't like the blue's, but I like the greens even less (although I'm told the greens look better in person?)

I know you think that way, let's just agree to disagree. Agreed on the TOs, some were just ugly. I'd be curious to see what LB thinks about Felts showing last night. Great scoring night but pretty blah otherwise.

They tried to get him the ball early and it kept getting sent back. Then Felts/Wallace got hot and they just stopped going back. Its not that he had a bad game as much as it is that he looked overpowered. I thought he did well defensively but not a great job of keeping them off the boards.

Ummm, you're actually not allowed to talk smack on Felton after a win. Now apologize! :P

hahaha, I didn't even realize that. I think it's kind of funny, but that's only because it's Philly. Plus I hope that big tool job rubbing what he thought was a Philly win in everyones face went home and cried.
