Vlad rad for Adam and Shannon still a good deal for Bobcats

When this deal went down , i know some of u guys said both of them were garbage..
Shannon now looks like the best PG on the Lakers. The past 5-6 games he has been a decent contributor on offense with a lot of defensive intensity..
I think this guy can be a really good bench contributor on a good team. The lakers are now praying and hoping they can sign him cheap..

Shannon was the price to upgrade from Ammo to Vlad. Shannon is a very exciting player that can finish in transition and hit the 3, but he's worthless as a pg because he's a dumbass. In LA he can get away with it because of the nature of the triple-post offense, but he's a total liability in most systems because he's "intense on defense" but also short and clueless and he can hardly dribble without knocking the ball out of bounds, much less create offense for himself or others. Also, his LA 3pt shooting looks a little flukeish.

That's about the only trade over the past season that I wouldn't give second thought to.
Thanks for asking.

I do think its funny though that the trade was headlined Adam Morrison to the Lakers. If anything Morrison was the throw in. It was basically a trade that involved Shannon for Vald. Morrison is the worst player in the trade.
That being said I think it worked for both teams. Lakers got rid of Vlad's contract and got an athletic Brown who can help out in an already talented Lakers team. They don't need Brown to be great, and fits in well. He did look pretty good yesterday when Fisher got in early foul trouble.
You know who I wouldn't mind having from the Lakers is Trevor Ariza...he's a FA this summer, right? That up and under dunk was nice yesterday.

He looks good now because he plays good defense and plays off the ball on offense. He could be replaced on this team easily. Jefferson might be his replacement actually.

Seriously? I would think that is more an indication of how poor the PG's on the Lakers must be then?
I still have no problem with the trade. I think that Radman will get better and can bring a lot more than both Shannon and Ammo could.
Ideally I would have liked to hang onto Ammo as an expiring deal and gone after Fabio this summer though - who is much cheaper and able to do much the same as Radman.

I love the "couple of solid games, so do you regret...." threads. You do realize his play in LA is more an indication of great a player Kobe is vs Say Emeka.
I love that this thread didn't really pop up during the regular season when he was averaging about 4 or 5 points with a 1:1 assist to turnover ratio.
Shannon was the better Bobcat traded in that deal, and I thought it was a mild loss for the team to trade him...but Vlad is a better fit for this team.

shannon on the lakers works... he gets open shots, he doesnt have to handle the ball much or make decisions. he can focus on defense. its a good fit for him.

We were all raving about brown near the end or the regular season when he was putting meaningful min with defensive intensity.. Come end of regular season it was a given Shanon may come first change.
All season long poor defense from PGs was the Archilies heel for the lakers.
His offense is a bonus.
Yes our PGs are bad.. Fish can make open shots but cant defend .. Farmar and Vujacic cant do ****..
Kobe more than makes up for a lack of pure PG.. so Shannons lack of playmaking is not a concern
The Vlad trade did cost us the best record in the league when there was a stretch where the entire lakers bench and Fisher were not firing on the road and Brown was still not getting PT. But we knew Vlad was useless in the post season where defense is what helps u get to the next level.
i see a lot of potential in shannon, he could be a James Posey or Trev Ariza if he gets more PT
BTW Adam Morrison is gonna take years to get over his injury.. I think he has some mental issues. So from Bobcats point of view it was good riddance..
A good deal is when both sides are happy .. So this sure looks like a good deal.

Exactly. I hate it because Im a Laker fan as you guys know and my favorite position is pg to watch and the Lakers always have crap at the pg position and they always get killed for it at that position. Smush Parker was actually getting talked about at one time. Now people think Shannon Brown is good. I was teased by Farmar and actually thought they will have there guy but all of a sudded he forgets how to play.
Anyway I am a Lakers/Bobcats fan and I still think the trade was perfect on both sides.

Shannon Brown makes sense for the Lakers. He was good for the Bobcats, but the style that the Lakers play fits Shannon more then the Bobcats did.
This was a solid deal for both teams and Adam Morrison, who needed to get out of Charlotte to attempt to salvage his career.

Most of the role players when they leave LA look pretty average.. Ask Devon George, Jenaro Fargo the list goes on and on.. May be Kobe , Gasol and Bynum force so many difficult matchups that it creates open shots for the rest.
Shanon has been making the open 3 pt shot in the last few games as his time has increased.
But yes yesterdays game was by far his best.

Phil gives everybody a shot and minutes so Ammo must be doing pretty bad in practice.
If he can't make it here his career really is over because it doesn't get better then the triangle with getting to play off Kobe,Gasol,Bynum, with unselfish players like Odom, Walton, Fisher.
SteveMorrison will have to admit Ammo is not gonna be anything if he doesn't do well if he plays next year assuming they have him.
He is on the perfect team for his skills. Like somebody said D George looked good on the lakers.
