And I won't mention who got first team but it was good to see he made it. He deserved 2nd team. Looking at the teams this year was possibly the best guard draft ever. Although the Kobe draft was pretty impressive to.

Very happy for DJ. I hope this is only the start of a very good career he has with Charlotte!

Re: DJ All NBA Rookie 2nd Team
Just because I was interested:
Rose: Games started = 80 and MPG = 37.0
Mayo: Games started = 82 and MPG = 38.0
Lopez: Games started = 75 and MPG = 30.5
Westbrook: Games started = 65 and MPG = 32.5
Beasley: Games started = 19 and MPG = 24.8
Gordon: Games started = 65 and MPG = 34.3
Love: Games started = 37 and MPG = 25.3
Chalmers: Games started = 82 and MPG = 32.0
Gasol: Games started = 75 and MPG = 30.7
Augustin: Games started = 12 and MPG = 26.5
Fernandez: Games started = 4 and MPG = 25.6
Wow. Looking at that you'd think that if DJ was drafted by someone like the Heat and handed 82 starts and 32mpg he might have had a real shot at RoY!!

Re: DJ All NBA Rookie 2nd Team
no doubt. if felton tears his acl in training camp, dj would have easily finished top 3 on ROY voting. i have no doubt he would have averged 15 and 6, maybe not good enough to pass rose and mayo, but easy first team.
anyway, happy for him.
how did love not make 1st team. thats nuts. beasley should be on 2nd team.

Re: DJ All NBA Rookie 2nd Team
it really does look like Love got the shaft. Didn't he have a zillion double doubles? Beasley came on strong at the end of the season, but Love was pretty consistent all the way (expect for a middle patch where he lost his way a little)

Re: DJ All NBA Rookie 2nd Team
love walked out of the tunnel for warmups and already had 7 rebounds.
plus, according to the show sports science, love now holds the record for the longest shot at 90 feet, breakign baron davis' record of 89 feet. did you guys see that episode? took him like 4 hours to make it, but he did it.

DJ would be a top 3 if healthy though. He had a hard time staying healthy. He could of hit a wall. I do think he is a very good player but
Rose
Mayo
Love
Westbrook
Beasley
They are better.

Re: DJ All NBA Rookie 2nd Team
i'm not suggesting i would take dj over any of those players, i wouldnt, but i think given 35mpg, dj would have easily put up better numbers than at least beasley, giving him the lock for 1st team.

Randolph is going to be special in a Kevin Garnett kind of way IMO.

I think Lopez is too low on that list... he was balling out this year in a starting role. I would much rather have him than Love and Westbrook, at the least.

Imagine if Dj played for a team like NY. 19 and 7 easilyyy. He could be their new Steve Nash. I don't think he's been the perfect fit for us, but he's certainly proven that he will be a special player in this league. Glad he's getting the respect he deserves.

Rose-Top 5 player by 2011
Lopez-got this kills me to put this here. See good teams want 7 footers more then slow 5'10 guys.
Love-It's not bias. This guy is gonna be a perenial allstar
Westbrook-Think more athletic bigger better Rando
Mayo-bigger then I thought. He's fine sized for a 2 espially since he is a great shooter.
Beasley-Dissapointing but will still be pretty good. Like that he can play sf/pf
DJ-Needs to bulk up. to injury prone and small if he doesnt get a Jameer, Marbury type body. If he does that and somehow gets a little faster he could be really good.

Come on Dex....
In the last 3 years DJ has missed 10 games to injury, all of them last year. How is that "Injury-prone?" by that definition most of the NBA is "injury prone,"

Re: DJ All NBA Rookie 2nd Team
He should bulk up to prevent being injury prone. He is 5'10 and skinny. He goes to the hoop and he is gonna get bumped and to be able to not get hurt and to be able to take the contact and still score he will have to bulk up.
We are talking about a super small pg who is slow and unathletic. He cant grow, he probably can't get much faster but he can get 5x stronger and he should.
Jameer Nelson is a body type he needs to copy.
Lets say he doesn't work out and get strong this will be the advantages opposing pg's have
Height
Quickness
Speed
Athletism
Weight
Strength
Do you really want that. How is it a bad idea? Who shouldn't be adding bulk besides Wallace and Felton and Mek.

DJ isn't slow and unathletic, we've been over this before.

Don't change the subject....
I said that he shouldn't be described as "injury-prone," I never said anything about whether or not he should try to bulk up. Of course he should be in the weight room trying to get stronger, just about all young players should.
As for DJ and his quickness, He's not TJ ford or Chris Paul but his speed is fine for a PG, I wouldn't call him slow. When I think of slow PG's I think of guys like Jason Kidd or Derek Fischer, who DJ is clearly quicker than.
In any case the reason quickness is useful is two-fold.
1. Staying in front of your man on defense. (Which DJ does just fine, despite his other flaws defensively)
2. Getting to the hoop(Which DJ does just fine.)
So it would seem he's quick enough....

Re: DJ All NBA Rookie 2nd Team
jason Kidd slow? You mean cause he is a little older right? He was one of the fastest of alltimes.
