Why? For us & them.

I really don't think that Felton or Diaw are the future of our team.. In regards to Felton, I'm not saying that he isn't a capable floor leader I just think that his shooting deficiencies are a problem on this team that struggles with their shooting & sometimes the player that has the ball in his hands the most(PG) should be able to hit it from deep... do we even have a clutch player? S&T for 8? mill per for both him & Marv.

Trading him pretty much straight up for Williams is a good move I think... Atlanta is thinking hard about their PG spot with bibby a F/A & Felton would fit in well with their Athletic style of play & he would mesh best with a brilliant shooter/playmaker in johnson in the backcourt with him who also has the needed height alongside a PG of Feltons size.. Felton also knows what it's like to guard the perimiter with a shotblocker patrolling the lane in smith and them 2 running the court together would get millions of hits on youtube..

Marvin is only 22? He has sky high potential still.. It is not his fault Atlanta screwed that pick up which was too high considering that the 3 best college PG's in the nation were left on the board at 2.. I wanted him to fall to us at 5..

He would only get better playing for us as he would have hopefully more of a green light to score considering we don't have any players that can take over games with this ability.. I honestly think he has the potential to easily(at least) be an 18/8/4/1/1 47% fg 38% 3pt sort of player.. that is one hell of a contributer he needs to get to 235-240 and play that tweener role between 3 & 4.

Atlanta Would be all over this I believe as they get a good deal in Felton & the very solid Gomes for Marv & a few Fillers. Note that no draft picks are included in this deal, there is enough young talent in this 3 team trade.

CHA

DJ/Telfair/draft pick
Miller/(draft pick)
Crash/Williams/Vlad
Williams/Vlad/Howard/Ajinca/
EO/Williams/Diop

ATL

Felton/Murray/claxton
Johnson/Murray
Gomes/Johnson
Smith/F/A/Draft Pick?
Horford/F/A/Morris

For us I think it opens up the 2nd trade which i like though you will prob think I'm crazy.

We give up a lot in this With Bo Diaw, Raja Bell but we also get rid of the horrible contact of Nazr Mohammed.

I really like Diaw but when it comes down to it his rebounding deficiencies will not let him play PF full time.. since he can play the 1,2,3,4 or 5 but is probably a natural small forward I would trade him as I prefer crash at the 3 spot.. Crash is our intensity on the court (not to mention his defense which is very underrated) & we need that more than anything.

Trading Diaw to minnesota gets us the player that I think is completely underrated Mike Miller, Everyone loved Matt Carrol but as I'm sure everyone already knows Miller is 10 times better than him. I'm comparing them as shooters because we haven't had many.. Miller would be the best we've had if we could get him.. his season this year was subpar but that will not last.

I like getting The Landlord & Bassy in this deal.. LB has a certain history with PG's and he would get the best out of Bassy. I think that Williams was drafted too high but could contribute with us. he would suit our team providing depth in our thin front court & also rebounding & defense & we should give him the opportunity to get his game together & maybe being settled & back in NC would help.

Minnesota would do this deal even though they would feel the pinch of losing Miller & especially Gomes but... If they flame out in the draft & get the fifth pick they should go with Brandon Jennings.

Jennnings/Foye/Law
Foye/Bell/Brewer/Carney
Diaw/Brewer/Carney
Love/Diaw/Smith
Aljeff/Zaza/Nazr

the fact that the 1,2,3 are very very solid playmakers & Love is no slouch either in terms of court vision the lanes will open up for the beasts that are Jefferson & Love.. I don't think they would lose anything by not having a natural center though Zaza is a good player & him & Raja Bell will give some much needed mentoring in the locker room & mintutes on the court.

I think everyone wins in this draft though we are still weak at PF.. which we could fix down the track or just sign a MLE SG & draft Blair? Atlanta gets a good deal without giving up too much & both Min & Charlotte give up a bit but honestly I think improve.

I haven't trade checked this yet but it should be good.

what do you think?

Welcome...always great to see new fans!

Since this is your first trade idea I'll go easy on ya! :)

Felton and Marvin can't be involved in a trade before July 1st (give or take) because they are restricted free agents. Neither can Pachulia and Shellhead as they are unrestricted free agents. Since you have no picks involved that doesn't necessarily kill the deal, but because they're RFAs/FAs:

1) they have to agree to the trade
2) they have to agree to the money/years
3) they would become BYC (at least the RFAs will)...meaning their teams can only take back 1/2 their salary in a trade

The last point is really the biggest hurdle, but you can get around that by making the trade big enough so the 125% rule will cover the difference in salary. Your idea is pretty big, so we'll assume this as well.

Charlotte out: Felton/Boris/Raja/Nazr
Charlotte in: Marvin/Shellhead/Bassy/Miller

Atlanta out: Marvin/Pachulia/Law
Atlanta in: Felton/Gomes

Minny out: Gomes/Miller/Bassy/Shellhead
Minny in: Pachulia/Boris/Raja/Law/Nazr

This way every fan can see what their team is sending out/getting.

Honestly, the talent swap isn't that bad...at least it's better than I originally thought. Personally I abhor Shellhead and I'm one of the biggest homers for Raja, so from my perspective I hate that part, but you brought in 2 very good scorers in Marvin & Miller (plus he's an expiring). Bassy is a credible backup so I don't have a big problem with that.

Taking out the duplication and putting Jefferson in as our 3rd PG:

DJ/Telfair/Jefferson
Miller/(draft pick)
Crash/Marvin/Vlad
Shellhead/May/Ajinca/
EO/Diop

The the SG/PF spots are very weak. They were before, but we downgraded at the 4 significantly (Boris >> Shellhead) in defense as well as in ball handling/passing...and we dropped a lot defensively and in leadership at the 2. Miller is a better scorer however, so there is some positives. You've strengthened the SF spot (which I like), but we would then have a LOT of money tied up in Crash/Marvin/Vlad.

Is this change worth giving up our newfound defensive identity? I'd have to vote no. The talent swap looks pretty decent (I think Minny would definitely do it and ATL might, depending on Felton's contract and the other options they might have at C...but losing Pachulia would hurt them), but I think the team we'd have after is not as good as the team we have now.

With respect to the OP...I'd like to piggy back this trade thread with a question:

Would you guys be willing to offer a MAX contract to Joe Johnson and give up the required talent in order for ATL to do the S&T? We're talking like 120 million over 6 years here.

Good interest in addressing some weakpoints, relative to Diaw (rebounding) and Felton's shooting. Marvin would help with a lot of things but not sure Felton can be replaced by either of those PG's yet.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

If we did this trade as written, we would definitely have to change our draft focus this year. Instead of a SG priority, we would now have to look at the combo guard type primarily. This would mean that a Tyreke Evans or a Stephen Curry would be MORE attractive to us. We could even then consider point guards....maybe Ty Lawson (no flames, please, ABC crowd!) Jeff Teague, or Eric Maynor, all players who are North Carolina natives, or have played at N.C. universities.

I like the trade proposal from the aspect of what it brings. I would prefer sending Vlad to Minny and keeping Raja here, though (assuming the $$$$$$ work).

Sik, you've got more guts than I've got. I work trades in my head, but I don't think I could ever do 10% as well as your first effort. Ya done good!

Welcome to the board, and I'm glad you thought out your trade idea before you posted it, but in my opinion, it doesn't make us better.

Getting rid of Nazr's contract is great, but losing Raymond and Boris sucks. I like Marvin Williams, but with Gerald here, I'm not sure this is the right place for him, unless LB plays him at power forward, which would be a problem if this trade went down.

Personally, I would pass.

Its definately an interesting trade for us. If Marvin could play the Pf position I would do it, I'm not sure if he is strong/tough enough though.

I don't think Atlanta would do it either, Zaza is the only decent 7 footer they've got, they are sort of obliged to hang onto him until they can find a replacement.

A Shellhead/McMay PF rotation is my nightmare version of hell. Adding in Dickie would only make it complete.

Thanks guys for your feedback.. Thanks Dexmor I like the name Sik Infant too.. I'm 21 though..haha.. I think that a PF position of shellhead & Mcmay is obviously frightening too.. What if like August us says trade Vlads contract instead of Raja to Minny who would at least get a shooter back in the trade... Then our back court is pretty good even though we would have a starting second year PG... I either want Blair(If we go for a big) or Holiday(Combo Guard) in this draft & at 12 we have the distinct possibility of getting one of them.. I would start Blair if we drafted him at PF with Marv and shellhead providing backup... Marv still gets 30-35 minutes a game... DJ,Miller,Wallace,Blair,EO with our back ups being Telfair,Bell,Marv,Candace Parkers bitch & Diop... yeah our front court is weak in terms of support & even height but even after these trades we will still be good defensively, have all positions covered and we have our MLE to sign someone decent (especially in today's economic climate..Backup PF?)
