Bobcats War Room- Pick 11 for 2009

Post#1 » by August Us Seazr » Tue May 19, 2009 1:52 am

Now talk about "Local Flavor"! Our tenth name on the ol' Big Board is that of none other than Stephen Curry of Davidson. Boy, his dad had a sweet shot! We could sure use that kind of shooting, couldn't we? I hope Stephen's not through growing, though. His biggest knock is his height. But he IS talented. I wish him well, and hope his NBA career is a long one.

In addition to Curry, we have previously selected Terrence Williams, Earl Clark, Jordan Hill, Hasheem Thabeet, Tyreke Evans, Demar DeRozan, James Harden, Ricky Rubio, and Blake Griffin.

So let's begin the debate on who fills spot # 11. Until tomorrow night, claw on!

Now that Curry is off the board I can go back to selecting no one.

I have probably watched more Gerald Henderson than anyone else in the draft, and I truly do not see much to be impressed with at the next level. DraftExpress puts his best case as Michael Finley, a fringe all-star at his peak. I'm inclined to agree... he doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but that also means he doesn't have glaring flaws.

I don't see any way I want him over Jennings though, who at least has a chance to be special, more than anyone left.

Portland fan here....

Just currious why Lawson isn't getting any love from the "local" town. I realize Chapel Hill is about a two hour drive from Charlotte, but I would figure he would get more votes for being drafted.

Does any of it have to do with Charlotte's recent misses with other UNC grads (May, Felton, etc)?

From what I saw from Lawson (which isn't a whole lot since I don't watch college ball very often) - I think he will be much better than people expect. I know he is short, but he is built thick. He has a good shooting percentage (including 3) and a fantastic A/To ratio. What is it that I am not seeing?

I want Portland to trade up to draft him. I think he would be perfect next to Roy, Aldridge & Oden. It appears that he knows how to drive the lane and set people up for easy shots.

Again - What am I not seeing?

How bout we draft Lawson and trade him to Portland, but what are you willing to give us in return??

Torn between Jennings and Henderson. Went with Henderson as he has enough talent that I think LB will be happy with the chance to develope his talent. Just didn't see enough of Jennings to put him ahead of Henderson. We will know soon.

i dont think its anything to do with lawson.............. or jennings. we dont have pgs as high on our board because we have dj and felton. when looking at players in a similar teir our preference is wings and power forwards.

the fact that jennings hasnt been selected should be more of a surprise than lawson.

that being said, i love lawson's skills. i think he is underrated. however, i dont think he is a great fit for LBs system. i think lawson needs to be in a more wide open, up and down offense, not one as deliberate as LBs.

I'd rather have a root canal than......

1- Vote for B. J. Mullens.
2- Select a player that plays a position that we currently have filled, leaving us to have to deal somebody.
3- Select someone who is an obvious bad fit for the Bobcats.

I'm left to decide between three guys. Henderson, Jennings, and Blair. Jennings represents a super value to the Bobcats, while Blair and Henderson are the best on the board (IMO) at a position of need. Get those trade scenarios going guys, we're gonna trade somebody!

Jennings, by a hair. Before I change my mind! Pass the novocaine!

We have Augustin and Felton, so why would we draft Lawson? But I agree, I think he would fit in very nicely with Portland.

Also, the Bobcats have only drafted three Tarheels -- Felton, May, and Wright -- and Wright was picked for Golden State in the JRich trade, so you can take the "etc." off.
