What can we deal for #1?

I know this has been discussed in bits and pieces, but this thread needs to take a serious look at what the Cat's could or should give up to get the Clipper's pick and draft Blake Griffin. Reports indicate that the Clips are asking for offers on this pick, and are very open to a deal.
Is Griffin the next Kobe, LeBron or Karl Malone? No. But he is the best player in this draft, a significant PF who can rebound, score and has NBA size and athleticism. He needs to improve his defense, his outside shot and free throws.
The most likely trading partner is OKC, who would love to keep the Sooner in their backyard for $ and his potential in their system. The 3rd pick and suficcient goodies could easily get them Griffin.
Our task would be much harder, and require a qualtiy player and picks. I would gladly offer Diaw, the #12 and a 2nd rounder, but that wouldn't get it done. Wallace and the picks? Would that stir the pot?

Honestly, I dont see us having the firepower to get #1 from the Clippers. Combine #12 and any one single player on our team, and it wont be sufficient. To give up 2 quality players with the #12 pick would likely take away too much to make the addition of Griffin a success. Dont see how we can do it this time.

the fact is, if they trade the pick, the trade partner has to take Randolph or Camby.
And i don't want them on our team. Especially Z-Bo and his useless fat ass:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4xH85iDDIsI'm also not that high on griffin. Our priority should be to get a shooting guard

Would Sacramento be willing to trade pick # 4 for DJ? and would the Clippers accept picks #4 and #12 for Blake Griffin?

I'd rather stand pat and keep this roster through camp and preseason than shake it up for a rookie no one is predicting to be a super star. I'd much rather trade down than up in this draft.

After the fallout of the Olokawandi fiasco, there is very very slim chance they not take draft Griffin seeing as he is the consensus no. 1 by a mile.

Its no lock that griffin is going to be very good either....few years ago we would have killed for greg oden or michael beasley....right neither are looking like the dominant player everyone thought...some times its better to stand pat...that said it still early for both guys so thinking can change

I kind of like this one, except for giving up DJ and trading for Griffin. # 4 would be much more attainable than # 1, and we can move upscale on the shooting guard list. Possibly we get that star player that we covet so much! But if D. J. is the price of improvement, I guess I'm in......reluctantly, but in.

You guys r being silly here. Bobcats aren't getting Blake. DJ for a top 5 pick is possible.

Can we give up Felton instead? Sign and Trade?
It would save some money, maybe make the trade more appealing by giving a more established player. And there is also the matter of DJ kindofsortofmaybe being a better player.
For the record, I would do Felton and 12 for the #4 if James Harden is still there.
Btw, Michael Beasley had an excellent season, he just didn't get a ton of minutes and wasn't the focus of the offense in Miami for obvious reasons. Put him on a bad team and he would have scored 18-20ppg and challenged Rose for ROY.

That "kindofsortofmaybe" is what might prompt a team to give up the 4th. Felton doesn't have the value.
I still don't know if I'd do it tho. I like the PG depth a LOT.

What if he signed dirt cheap? Like 5-6 mil a year dirt cheap? That might make him very attractive to other teams? An NBA experienced starting PG who is of very, very high character, is a hard worker, is young and still has upside on the cheap long term?

No matter the rationalizations (3 different coaches, etc.), Felton has been in the league for 4 years now and his numbers haven't really improved. Fans who follow the team like we do can see some improvement (well, at least some of us!), but in general most will think "he is what he is".
DJ on the other hand has only been in the league for one season, shoots EXTREMELY well and still appears to have loads of potential. He also was able to come in and not be thrown in the water to sink or swim...which also helps the potential tag.
Draft time is all about potential and hope (that's why you see idiotic comments like "9th > Crash). IMO most of that doesn't pan out...but it doesn't take away from the fact that it drives conventional thinking.

Sitting at 12 can still get us a decent SG, and I'm perfectly good with that. Henderson could become a very good player in the league (if he's still there). I also agree that we would have to overpay for getting Griffin from our current draft position, and we can't afford to do that. But it is the Clippers, and there's always the possibility they would take an offer we're willing to make. For me that's Diaw, the #12 & a lower 2nd rounder.
Getting to a top 5 pick is an interesting suggestion. But how much better is a Harden versus a Henderson? Does the athletic potential of DeRozan offset his poor shooting skills for a high pick?

Lets put it this way. DraftExpress's best-case for Henderson is Michael Finley, and for Harden is Manu Ginobili. Worst case Anthony Parker and Jason Terry, respectively. DeRozan's got some risks associated with him, of course, but he's also got one of the better upsides, and that's something we're really just not going to be getting at #12.
I'm not even so sure Henderson is going to fall to us... though I guess if Larry Brown has his way, apparently we'll be trading up for Stephen Curry. God help us.

If we pull off some stupid stunt like that to pick ANOTHER UNDERSIZED PLAYER in Curry, I absolutely swear I am done with this team!
Strange that our first workout is Curry, and I only hope that's for convenience sake. Heck he's dying to go to the Knicks...PLEASE KNICKS, PICK HIM AT 8 SO IT PUSHES A BETTER PLAYER DOWN! I don't hate Curry, but he will struggle at the NBA level..even more than DJ did and will continue to do.
Geez, just pick Blair if you want to go undersized. At least that guy is a beast on the boards with the wingspan of a center, and a work ethic/personality that will carry a team. Maybe he can kick Mek's butt a few times to bring out the inner animal we hope lurks there.

You sort of can't go that wrong at #12 this year.
I mean, expectations get lower the further down you pick (although you wouldn't know it with the way some have bashed Lexy!!) and at #12 this year there seems to be a slew of guys who might help us out and we should have about 3 or 4 to pick from.

A lot of people said "I am done with this team" after the J-Rich trade too.
Curry at 12 isn't that bad.....I wouldn't trade up to get him though.

yeah, i am happy about our draft postion. lots of guys that can help us in that range. not really missing on any sure stars after the first few picks. just as happy to be at 12 as 6.... ok, you get the point... obviously 6 is better.
add big earl to the list as well.
