A few trades for pieces

Post#1 » by Elden Payton » Fri May 29, 2009 9:14 am

Hey guys have been really busy for the last few weeks & am disappointed I missed the War Room for pick 12: I'm going for Blair as I think that its quite obvious that he is everything we've been missing since our inception, I mean in terms of a definitive physical presence with low post offense.. I think now that we have an identity as a defensive team we need a bruiser/physical leader type (Okafor doesn't count- no real mean streak) here are a few trades for pieces that I believe we need (despite what a few people think I believe we need to get a younger rotation- 8 vets- 4-5 projects)

Trade 1: CHA-NO

Gerald Wallace- filler for Mo pete-Julian Wright & pick 21

I DO NOT want to get rid of Wallace (just making that clear) but if we were to trade one of our regular rotation & it is not Felton or Diaw I believe we should keep Okafor & not Wallace (Being center is Harder to fill than Small Forward & Wallace has higher Value while EO is a legit double-double guy & we are in the east)

Reasons: Shinn wants cheap & G-wallace is cheap for his production, New Orleans would be all over this.. giving up an older role player buried deep in their rotation, a young player with (extreme) potential & the 21st draft pick in a week draft for a near all star caliber defensive wing..

The reason I would do this for us is that our franchise needs a bit of a change in direction, if we tweak a few things with what we have in place already then yes we will make the playoffs every year in the weak east.. we will also get killed every year too & just have pick 15-22 to get better.. we need to be active in the trade market now to get some young players who have the potential to be something in a few years & carry us through the playoffs..

We get a very respected veteran in Mo-Pete who still has some gas in the tank.. Julian Wright is a beast.. He has all the intangibles to succeed in the LB system & I honestly believe will be better than Wallace both on offense & defense.. The 21st pick will yield some fruit I'm sure BJ Mullens anyone? How about Chase Budinger? My pick here would Be Gani Lawal.. These types wil be available witth this pick.. I would take Lawal or Mullens unless Ty Lawson or Johnny Flynn drop..

Trade 2: CHA-SAC

DJ Augustin-our lower second round pick (#52?) for Pick #4 & Donte Green

Reasons: I have seen a few trade ideas for Donte Green & if I were the GM this is the one I would pull the trigger on.... I believe that Sacramento is pretty loaded right now with young talent (tough conference to learn in though) what they are lacking is a PG with extreme potential and DJ augustin would be worth what they give up..

They would be hoping for Rubio to drop but he won't last past pick 2 & Thabeet will go 3 to the Thunder I'm thinking so that leaves them with Harden or Hill at 4 but they have an awesome young frontcourt in Hawes & Thompson & there is a guy called Kevin Martin playing the 2 :D so why would they waste the pick on either? in trading #4 & Greene to us they fill their biggest position of need & can get a decent 3 in next years draft..

We would use the 4 on Harden(who will be a killer) he will play well in LB's controlled offensive & defensive schemes & Greene would back up Wright at the 3...

our team would be Felts,Harden,Wright,Diaw,Okafor with a bench of Mo-Pete,Blair, Bell, Greene, Diop & our other rookie(Lawal?).. all we need is a PG through free agency (Sessions)

We get younger & better & don't give up too much... that team would make the playoffs next year & only get better.. are these trades believable? What do you think?

I don't care what Shinn wants and of course New Orleans would be all over this, because we give up our best player for a rookie who hasn't proved anything.

The reason I would do this for us is that our franchise needs a bit of a change in direction

What the heck are you talking about? There is no need for changing the direction because we are on the right path. We NEED Wallace in Larry Browns system. Wallace is the only one on our team who can finish at the rim.

if we tweak a few things with what we have in place already then yes we will make the playoffs every year in the weak east.. we will also get killed every year too & just have pick 15-22 to get better..

Without Wallace, we won't even make the playoffs.

We would use the 4 on Harden(who will be a killer)

Who said that? Harden is one of many guys in this draft with IMMENSE bust potential and he's a choker

all we need is a PG through free agency (Sessions)

Sessions will not sign for the MLE and he doesn't want to be backup PG

This trade wouldn't go down. A) Augustin isn't worth the 4 overall pick. B) Green's worth more than the 54 pick.
