Bobcats War Room- Pick Nineteen - 2009

With our 18th pick, we have selected Jeff Teague of Wake Forest. We are now getting a pretty good feel for those point guards, as three of the last four selections have either been point guards or combo guards.
Periodically, I go back to my different mock drafts and do some updating. In doing the updating, I have run into a situation where I have actually had to change a mock draft. One of the prior five, The Hoops Report, made two mistakes on their most recent issue. In both cases, a player was listed twice. I can maybe abide one double listing, but TWO?

That grills my guts! Anyway, our new 5th mock is the Real GM version 6.0. So, if a few people show up in a different order, that's the reason! (Detractors of Chase Budinger will be happy to know that the mocks are devaluing him at the first of June. Arizona needs to emphasize defense a little more!)
Are you ready for another vote? Here we go.........................................

Point taken on Budinger. You have collectively convinced me.
But I'm still looking to fill the shooting guard role here. So it's time to pull out Wayne Ellington. He beats Mullens, Budinger and the cast of thousands at the point guard spot at our position of greatest need. I realize that he may not be the best player left on the board. Arguably, the local guy (for me at least) Maynor is the highest unchosen player left, and could be the bpa. But Ellington is the best, non-stiff, blendable with our system, non point guard, at a position of need player left on the board (I'll take credit, that is totally MY opinion!)
Ellington!!!

I go with Maynor - the BPA on the list.

Although I voted for Maynor previously, I voted for Daye. Sure, he's rail thin but just think of the possibilities of a line up with him and Ajinca! You could call it the "walking curtain.''

I would bet a significant amount of money that Chase Budinger is never more than a marginal NBA player....
I gotta go with Daye, Tall, quick, skilled players dont grow on trees. Guys like Hansborough and Lawal will be solid pros, but to me are in the same tier as Dontell Jefferson, Cartier Martin or whoever the NBDL flavor of the week is. Daye has a chance to be a super-star, maybe only a 10% chance, but at 19 you roll the dice and hope.
Is Sam Young close to being on the list of candiates? I like him better than all the other guys on the list now.

e4- Sam Young is 3 elections out at this point- behind Omri Casspi and DaJuan Summers. Here's a suggestion- you could vote None of the Above and write him in. If you feel strongly enough, you could possibly sway a few votes! As for me, I gotta take a closer look, now that you have brought him up.
On the report front- voting closed with Daye in the lead. Now to finish out our second ten!
