What about this trade idea??

Post#1 » by misterglover » Thu Jun 11, 2009 10:54 pm

Theres alot of Okafor trade rumors on these boards lately and the Pistons fans seem to have a serious hard on for him right now and while I hope we dont & dont think we will just get rid of him for peanuts & cap space I am not really a big Okafor fan he just doesnt seem to have a high basketball IQ to me and not alot of heart/passion for the game... So with that being said if managemnt/LB decided to trade him what would you guys think of a trade like this

Okafor
Nazr

for

Ginobli
Oberto
Mahinmi

If healthy Ginobli fills a need at SG, I know he's older but he still has a few good years left if he stays away from international play. He has a knack for getting to the freethrow line and he attacks the basket the way LB wants his players to do and I also think his style of play would put some excitement and asses in "The Cable Box" & increase our local hispanic fan base plus he only has 1 year left on his big contract versus Emeka's 5 yrs so that would put us in a position to make some moves to improve in the infamous "summer of 2010". In Oberto we get his fellow Argentinian teammate and a smart reserve big and with Mahinmi we get a big prospect that someone else has spent like 3 years developing and he also happens to be French so maybe playing w/ and being around Diaw & Ajinca would smooth his transition.

For the Spurs I think Okafor would be a perfect fit for them and the tandem of Okafor/Duncan would be close to what they have been trying to get down low since The Admiral retired.

It would also still give the Bobcats many different ways to go with their draft picks...You could go with a young big w/ potential like BJ Mullens, a versatile player like Earl Clark, a young wing to eventually replace Manu like Gerald Henderson/Tyreke Evans or a big banger like Dajuan Blair. I prefer to go bigger now as I think wings are easier to find

Bobcats lineup:

C---> Diop/Lexi/Oberto/Mahinmi
PF---> Diaw/May(?)/Radmanovic/Oberto/Mahinmi
SF----> Crash/Diaw/Raja/Radmanovic
SG----> Manu/Raja/Felton
PG----> Felton/DJ

Draft picks------>(12) Earl Clark/Dajuan Blair, (40) Danny Green/Dionte Christmas (54) an international prospect to stash overseas

What do you guys think??....Be easy I am a fellow bobcats fans!! :-?

I like Manu as next guy, but I wonder how much gas he has left in the tank.

Having him and Raja on the team together sure would be fun to watch though!!

I´d do it.I like Okafor,but I think Manu would guide us to the next level,perhaps a 45-37 season,and we don´t need the horrible contract of Emeka,besides,Oberto is a good backup,and we can give some time to Ajinca and draft a nice wing player in order to trade Radmanovic

I wouldn't do it. It doesn't improve our team.

Hm, i don't know.

Ginobili is the perfect shooting guard for this team, because he doesn't need the ball to be effective, but he can also be a playmaker. The only thing that concerns me is his health.
The spurs alreay limit his minutes and i don't think he could play 35+ minutes every night.

furthermore, we loose our big defensive presence in the post and i really don't like the idea of diop as a starter.

What about Ginobili/Thomas/Mahinmi for Mek & Nazr?

We would have the following starting lineup: Felton/Manu/Wallace/Diaw/Thomas

I could live with Thomas as our starting center.
