Bobcats War Room - Pick # 29 - 2009

Well, guys we have two more opportunities to name players to our list of "gotta haves" to fill in our first round at any drafting position. My main objective in doing the War Room is to get a feel for how everyone in the Bobcats board views individual players as a group. Individual interpretations are good, especially when we know a little something someone else doesn't. Most times, I don't, and I'm more than happy to learn a little from any of you. Mostly it is a learning thing for me. Plus I have this nice list to work from when the draft coverage comes on.

I don't really know who will be available to us. And if I did, it would probably make draft night a little anti-climactic. I know more about WHAT I want. I know what kind of characteristics I want that player to have. I just don't KNOW if we can get what we need. A STAR PLAYER. That would probably require a trade. Of a core player. Or two. On the one hand, we would lose someone we really have loved watching. But if we got that star player, our enjoyment would be enhanced. By and large, WORTH IT! We just have to see what Larry Brown has up his sleeve. (But please, no more Alexis Ajinca surprises, Okay??????????)

At position # 28, our board has chosen Danny Green of the University of North Carolina. There are now NO MORE UNC guys to vote for this year. We got em all. Do well, Danny, boy!

And now, without further delay, let's get down to business. Pick 29. Next to the final pick. The going gets muddier, but slog on. Treat it like its our # 12 pick, because we never know what will happen when all of these guys get together talking deals and team building!

Didn't realize Thornton was 6' 2". I was looking for someone BIGGER.

Let's try Josh Heytvelt on for size! Good size. We've chosen precious few big guys. Maybe we could get him at 40???? (Although I could go with Jeff Pendergraph there too.) Unfortunately, this guy might be one of those 31-37 type of picks. But I can hope! Just so you know, I don't hold Gonzaga responsible for Ammo not working out for our team. A vote of confidence for Gonzaga, here!

Josh Heytvelt at # 29!

dradle, dradle, dradle, I made you out of clay. No but seriously, he'd be the first Israeli to ball in the NBA. Just think of massive Jewish fanbase we'd get.

I hardly just guessing at this point. At least Taylor is a two.

David Bluthenthal has duel citizenship, I don't really count that though. If Omri made it over before Lior Eliyahu or Yotam Halperin he would definitely be able to make that claim. Pretty sure he'd be the first Israeli drafted in the first round regardless. Still, I'm not voting for him until rd 2 out of principle, I can't support my team getting Vasquez'd.

Ford has Casspi going 27th.

"Analysis: The Grizzlies lack toughness, and Casspi has an abundance of it. He's not the most skilled player in the draft, but few players possess his grit. As an added bonus for the Grizzlies, they don't have to pay him to come over yet. There are a number of teams targeting this pick right now via trade ... so Memphis might not have it on draft night."

I know, he's almost always been a late 1st rounder. Apparently Omri is willing to take a pay cut in order to play for an NBA team. Apparently. I don't trust apparently, so on principle I don't want to consider international players until rd 2 unless we're talking about bringing them over right away because they're major projects.

Mills, Brown, Taylor each with 2 votes. You gotta be kidding me! Are you all trying to give an old guy with a history of heart problems an arrythmia? A tie is one thing. A possible four way tie? :onfire: :onfire: :onfire: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :falloff: Whoever voted for Omri Casspi that last time, I am in your debt. Now where's my nitro tablets? :D :D :D

Yes, we have another International on the board- Omri Casspi, that hard-nosed Israeli who brings a grind-it-out game to our Draft Board. Our # 29, and next to final pick. Let's go finish this thing. I want to see the full list.
