Larry Brown with the french NT

Post#1 » by naelven » Fri Jul 24, 2009 4:00 pm

Here is a link of the video.

http://www.dailymotion.com/user/basketf ... leus_sport

The first part is in french, in the last part, Larry Brown is speaking about his experience with the french NT.

I won't translate the first part but the french coaching is only saying that the team is very honored to have LB with them, helping the team to get better and sharing his tremendous experience with them.

It is also interesting for the Bobcats fans to hear LB talking about Alexis and Boris but I will let you hear that yourselves ;)

One last thing, as a french guy watching the NBA for 20 years, I am very very very pleased to see a legend like LB sharing with our national team and I hope that it will also helped Borris and Alexis get better so that when they come back to Charlotte, they will be better and help the bobcats go the playoffs.

Wow that team does have some talent. Noah's on the team too? I thought he was Brazilian or something.

He is from three continents : Africa (Cameroun), America (born in NY), Europe (Sweeden and France)... He is not Joakson Varenoah.

The boxscore of tonight's game :

Boris played at SF position.

It is still bizarre to me that France isn't a better team given some of the downright awful teams I saw play in the Olympics a year ago.

thats a nice team. i could see them making some noise. they have the talent. they just cant seem to find the chemistry.

looks like jinx is in the mix to make the team.

I doubt Lexy gets cut, since we sent Larry over to the Bobcats of the Fiba games. They love him.

Fats, Pietrus has a wrist injury.

I'd be surprised if they cut Alexis. It's such a difficult task to even get into this Eurobasket, much less qualify for the olympics from it, that I think they mostly want to get guys experience, develop team chemistry and try to be dominant in the WC's

Boris did nicely in a walk away win, but the french bean only gets 5 minutes in a mop-up game. Jeez...I wonder if he's really making any significant progress?

A win this evening against Italy, in Italy.

77-80 OT

Boris: 15pts (6/10 -0/2... 3/7 at FT) / 4rbds / 4assists no to in 36m.
Very agressive in the first half, attacking the basket, passing the ball. He played à SF.

Flo Pietrus (in the first half and defending on Bargnani) and Nico Batum (in the second hald and defending on Belinelli) were the two best players for the french team. Both had 20pts.

Next game against Finland, saturday.

Actually, yeah it's surprising but Ajinca was cut from the team after the preparation, the coach chose Ali Traore over him. Noah wasn't allowed to play by the Bulls (you need insurance to be allowed to play, for the same reason Diaw couldn't play last year). Mickael Pietrus was injured indeed, but truth be told, he had been cut from the team in the past years, even when healthy. He never really could fit in satisfyingly, unlike his brother Florent, who is, with Diaw, the clear leader of the team.

Very good game by Batum tonight, in Parker's absence he carried the team on his (skinny) shoulders. Diaw wasn't bad, but always a bit disappointing considering his amazing abilities. At such a level, he should shine and take his responsibilities, but carrying the team offensively really goes against his nature, I don't think he'll ever be able to do it.

By the way, interestingly, both Charlotte french players got noticed back home for getting involved in their hometown small teams, in Bordeaux for Boris Diaw, and in Saint-Etienne for Ajinca. Boris already owns 33% of his club, and Ajinca just announced that he intended to do something similar in the near future.
Good dudes.

Glad to see Ajinca is investing some of his current wealth in a future business, as his ability to become a productive NBA player is in serious jeapordy. Again, as I predicted from draft night...a wasted pick.

There's an article on a french site saying that Larry Brown is thinking about adding Mickael Pietrus' brother to his roster. And Boris Diaw wants him come.

it would be a very good news to see FLo coming to Bobacts. He is a serious guy, has very good defense and rebound sense
