Im almost thru w/ this team...

Im soooo **** thru with this team....I cannot believe that we just stood by & let Iverson sign w/ the Grizzlies...we had so many factors working in our favor....he respects LB, MJ is his idol, Charlotte is close to his hometown of Hampton, Va and he wanted to be here & we need a scorer. At this point do I think AI would have lead us close to a title, no of course not but he makes us better than this junk of a roster we have now. He would have given this team sumthing they never had...a household name, for once the spotlight would have shined on the Bobcats at least a little bit.

But my biggest question is why it isnt like he chose a contender to go too he choose the Grizzlies so my question is why did we not sign him?? Is it becuz Bob Johnson is selling and everything is on pause? Is it becuz of money especially after we have taken on the contracts of Nazr, Diop & Radmanovic...cant be that... Cant be talent related, I'll take a 34 yr old Iverson over McCants, Henderson, Bell any day of the week & twice on Sundays... and he would definetly put more asses in seats at the Arena...

This organization has done nuthing all off-season to try & improve at all, we traded Okafor for Chandler which I dont mind cuz I think Okafor was overpaid & not very talented, but still we probably could have gotten more talent or assets in return, we didnt even make an effort to re-sign a finally healthy Sean May after spending 3 **** years waiting on him to get healthy even though we have a big ass hole at PF, we dont want to overpay Felton which is good but at the same time we could have just signed a cheaper, as talented PG in Ramon Sessions and just cut ties w/ Ray... I think a combo of Sessions & DJ would have been just as good, Not only that by dicking around w/ Felton & his agent so long he's probably gonna end up taking the 1-yr QO and leaving unrestricted next summer with us getting nuthing in return.... we let young, middle of the pack FA's like Warrick,Powe etc just sign discount deals w/ teams and never truly made an all out effort to get them. If anyone truly still believes that this team is a playoff caliber team in a much improved Eastern Conference they are either serious, dedicated homers or totally crazy.

I've supported this team since day damn 1...leaving work to go to BoA building for the expansion draft results...standing around in SouthPark mall for the unveiling of the uniforms...the long rides to Tyvola to see them in the old Coliseum & the traffic jams afterwards... every home game since then but Im almost done.... this team seems fine being mediocre there is no buzz or excitement at all around this team.... Im bout ready to join the legions of Charlotteans who really dont give a damn if this team packs up & leaves

And another thing....Im tired of reading this damn site and seeing Bobcats fans always finding some wack ass excuse to justify turning down one of the proposed "trade ideas" involving us... I can understand when its the trades where we give up our best talent & get junk in return i always read those and sometimes feel the urge to chime in my 2 pennies, but Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Boris Diaw is not an untradable talent....neither is Gerald Wallace or DJ Augustin....I like all those guys and admit they all have a significant value to this team but I hate when I read bobcats fans justifying why these guys are off limits....WE ARE A MEDIOCRE TEAM, EVERY DAMN ONE ON THIS ROSTER SHOULD BE ON THE BLOCK IF THE RIGHT DEAL COMES ALONG....

I'm sorry, I'll step off my soapbox now.... :vent:

Just needed to vent.....

Yeah, it sucks that we have trash like Gana and Vlad on our squad for so much doe, while much, much better players are getting scooped up for practically nothing. Not bringing May back was nearly as stupid as trading Okafor. Not bringing in Iverson, when he obviously wanted to play here, definitely would have helped our team financially and more than likely in basketball sense, too, was dumb. But I don't think anyone's said DJ, Boris, and Gerald are of limits.

I think the softcore porn thread will cheer you up, though.

I don't think not signing May was bad. I heard he looked out of shape as usual at the recent UNC alumni game.

Good post glover. Alot of us share your sentiments. I still watch nearly every game but I'm becoming increasing distressed by the direction this franchise is going.

I was a die hard Hornets fan for their entire charlotte campaign. They were fiscally responsible and extremely well managed by their FO. There were a few seasons (one in the JL/Zo era [foiled by Jordan], one in the 54 win Rice Era [stopped by the Knicks] and one in the Mashburn era) when they had legitimate chances to make the NBA finals and actually compete for a championship. All of this, especially their potential to compete with anyone is what made them so compelling.

All of these elements are missing from the Bobcats organization. Long term, there is little to be excited about.

In my eyes, making the playoffs in and of itself isnt all that important. Context is critical: When the Hornets made the post season for the first time, the magic was palpable because it represented only the first step towards a greater goal. They had gradually and methodically been assembling young talent the previous few years and now had the potential to go deep. And they did just that, eliminating Boston and advancing to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Contrast that to the Cats: a poorly managed, mediocre team who, if the stars allign for them, might be lucky enough to slip into an 8th seed by default in a top heavy east despite likely having a sub-.500 record, only to be embarssed/swept by Cleveland or Orlando, consequently forfeiting their draft selection in the following year's draft to only regress further into mediocrity the following season.

The sooner they blow everything up for picks a young talent to start over, the better.

its tough at times to get excited about this francise, i know. i really try to block it all out of my mind and focus on the small things. being entertained at games and on the board. i've had a blast at games where we lost, cause i spent the entire game laughing at people and making fun of others. it makes me happy and helps me forget the fact that we are going nowhere past the first round with this current roster.

What the hell do you expect? We are the Charlotte freaking Bobcats. Things won't get better until we get a new owner.

Your feelings are understood and shared by some. I have been close to pulling the rip cord a few times, but I don't really have a desire to embrace another team. However, continued mediocrity and random stupidity can only be rewarded for so long.

Look, by the time Iverson ended up signing with Memphis I was having some "buyers caution" creeping into my desire to get Iverson. If he would have signed with us for $3.5M, how could you turn that down? Well, if you're el cheapo Bob Johnson you don't take on a nickle of anything if you don't have to. This Felton drama is stretching out way too long. Also we have no PF option after Diaw. I know on this board "everybody loves Boris" but he's not a guy who will carry us places.

Our drafts have missed too many critical opportunities to add high-quality players instead of busts. We have an average team, and really have no hope of going anywhere short of a "Hoosiers" fairy tale ending.

You might as well be threw with them. Any heading containing the word 'thru', not preceded by 'drive', is a red flag that the post is unreadable. doh!

I don't know why some fans are so upset, I see us making the playoffs this season. Don't know what most of you guys are watching, but since LB has arrived, he's added a bunch of players who know what it takes to be a part of a winning team on the NBA level, while dumping the players who haven't won jack sh*t.

And we would have made the playoffs or come very close last season had we not have had the worst second half schedule in the history of the NBA. If anything, blame Bob Johnson for scheduling some stupid horse event at the Time Warner Cable Stadium Arena Center.

Oh and we lost the moody always whining star of the weight room, Ebrickafor, who hasn't won anything on the court for us, that right there is addition by subtraction. Good bye and GOOD riddance!

I'm glad we didn't sign AI because we really don't have a shot at being worth a damn so its better to really suck to get a high lottery pick. Of course we have a penchant for screwing up drafts which doesnt help. We have squandered lottery picks (Hello Adam Morrison and DJ Augustin and Bell/Diaw ala Richardson ala lottery pick) and salary cap space (Hello Raja Bell and Boris Diaw). It take some time for the effects of these bad decisions (i.e., the crap contracts we've amassed) to roll off. We might as well suck it up during this zombie period and stockpile some young talent we can build on.

You know what´s funny? I like to poke around other teams forums, and you see "I´m done!" threads on every single one of them. I don´t even think they are more or less common with good or bad teams....

I think I might lose interest in the Cats if they ever became an extremely good team. It´s like a good book or a good movie. Characters that are unstoppable and perfect are 1 dimensional. A really deep story has characters with flaws. Thats the reason I could never be a Lakers or Celtics fan, how boring.....

If the cats DO somehow become a championship team AND I somehow maintain my interest, It will mean so much more to me than it means to all the "die hard" Laker fans who live in Ohio and have no idea who A.C. Green is....
