Diaw hurt his ankle

Post#1 » by Wzanzibar » Sun Sep 20, 2009 12:51 pm

Diaw sprained his ankle in the game against Turkey. He needs to rest his joint for one month.

I'd rather him hurt his ankle from playing ball over the summer than to turn up to training camp fat after a summer of hitting the cheese and wine.

Question here, I'm having an argument with another poster... but could you guys tell me what Diaw's defense is like?

On a scale of 1 (Jason Kapono) to 10 (Bruce Bowen), I would say 6 or 7. He can guard both forward positions and sometime even centers. Not in the sense of locking them down, but he's able to stay in front and put some pressure on them.

I agree. I would say he's a fairly decent defender and has, more than likely, been the Bobcat's best PF defender in their short history - as Okafor always lacked the quickness while guys like Wallace and Dudley were lacking in the size department. And even though he's listed at only 6-8, the guy has a pretty solid frame and a rather large wingspan, and hasn't really seemed to struggle against taller opposition all while having adequate quickness to guard the more agile / perimeter oriented PFs at least somewhat effectively . He is by no means a defensive stalwart and his lack of rebounding definitely brings his stock down a bit, but he generally plays a smart brand defense that I would say puts him at a slightly above-average level in regards that end of the floor.

LB (via Bonnell) says it's not that bad.
