WFNZ - golden opportunity

Post#1 » by fatlever » Fri Oct 2, 2009 4:11 pm

WFNZ is now the official radio station of the bobcats (610AM). they will be airing the games.

in the past WFNZ has not had much coverage of the bobcats and the listeners have generally been apathetic towards the bobcats. what coverage they did have was usually negative. but now, WFNZ is invested in the bobcats. assuming they are not (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and assuming they like generating ad revenue, they will be doing everything they can to promote the bobcats, which means a lot more coverage and a lot more positve talk on the air. hopefully segments, interviews, players coming in the studio regularly (something that has NEVER happened with the bobcats, which is shocking).

this is a golden opportunity for the bobcats. with the panthers off to an 0-3 start this town will be looking for a different avenue for sports this fall. we all know how fast this town will turn on the panthers once they are out of the playoffs. if the bobcats can get off to a hot start [fingers crossed] the bobcats could really stand to gain some serious fan momentum early.

just another reason we need to have a strong november.

I can see how this could help the team and I'd love for us to come out of the gate quick and get the city behind us but even if the station has special interviews and other such things I most likely won't be listening because the questions will all be coming from a bunch of morons. I'll just enjoy the fact that maybe some other sports fans in the city will be exposed to the team more so than they normally would.

ABSOLUTELY! Everything is being framed up nicely for this team to gain major attention. All the more reason they must start strong and build from there. I know they want to be cautious with Chandler and Diaw, but they'd better be sure to get some games under them before the season starts. Stumbling out of the gate again is just not acceptable if they want to reach the playoffs.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
