FWIW, some observations via an interview of Tony Battie:
“Coming from where I’ve seen Dwight every day, Brook can be the same kind of physical dominator, but in a different sense,” the Nets backup center said of Brook Lopez after Thursday’s morning session. “Dwight is an athletic freak. But Brook’s presence can be just as dominating. “And obviously he is more advanced offensively. He has phenomenal hands, but his skill and touch around the basket. ... I don’t know of any other big guy in the league with his kind of skill set, other than Tim Duncan, or (Zydrunas) Ilgauskas in his prime. Hook shot, bank shot, range — he has everything he’ll need.”
I fear every year that passes will provide glaring evidence of our mistake.

i dont know a ton of basketball x and o, baseball is my sport to second guess ppl lol..but does not dj fit our coaches scheme much better? and in addition was he not brought in to learn while raymond held down the starting gig with the understanding that he was a freash,plyable piece that our coach could mold into the prototype pg for his system. and be the starter in that system long term? why would you give that up for brook lopez? plus dj at least has a mans name

Taking DJ over Lopez won't compare to us passing up Earl Clark for Henderson. Guys with as cool a name as Eaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrllllllllll don't come along that often.

Should've gone with Clark anyway, he fills that PF void nicely while we have Bo fighting for PT with Flip behind Raja

Bass wasn't saying he didn't like DJ, just that he likes Lopez more. I like DJ a lot but I'd rather have drafted Lopez as well. But alas...
I wanted Clark too. We'll get to play monday morning qb on that one in a few months.

Lopez could be the next Wilt Chamberlain, and I'd still pass on him 100 times out of 100 just to see him cry again.
As it stands right now, in terms of the value it has added to my life, drafting Augustin + watching Lopez cry >> drafting Lopez.

LOL, this is how you know the season is getting close.
Anyway, I like DJ too, but if I knew we were trading Okafor away for an injured center I would've demanded we draft Lopez. He's going to be awesome, like it or not.
