OT: Okafor to be traded for expiring?

Several sources are saying that the Kings and Hornets are discussing an Okafor for Kenny Thomas deal. The main incentive is that NOH wants to shut it down this season, play for a high pick, dump all the salary they can.

It would be hilarious to see the Kings start sucking as well. Okafor, the team cancer????

Sacramento has been playing really well. Their record isn't indicative of what I've seen the handful of times I've seen them. If K$$$$$$ could stay healthy they'd be even better. Unfortunately for them, the success is playing them out of a top lotto pick and they need a center to play beside Thompson and Hawes. Getting Okafor would be excellent for them.

New Orleans needs to do something. I know it's popular here to blame their struggles on Okafor, but it's actually the awful decisions they made before trading for Mek that are starting to haunt them. MLE deals to Posey and Peterson and that awful Peja signing. Should be interesting seeing what develops.

Unless the chemo is affecting Shinn's brain, not even he is stupid enough to make that trade.

Offer them Diop and Radmanovic, tell them they are expirings, and hope they don't check.

Unfortunately/fortunately we can't trade for Okafor until next year.

haha thats a disgusting thought.

this trade makes no sense at all. can someone tell me a reasonable explanation why the kings want to turn that expiring into okafor with the pieces they have already in jt and hawes.

I understand why the Hornets are considering it (money issues). However, I really don't understand what the Kings from benefit from it. Develop the young big men that they already have. That would be a better plan. It's not like they're going to be competing for a championship any time soon. They have time.

If he keeps this up, yeah, but not if he sinks back down to last season's level, or anywhere close to it. Thompson's a PF, anyway. Okafor has been significantly better than Hawes these last couple of years and this year, so that would be the reasoning, I guess. May was starting to "distribute" the size, so I think it's fair to say Okafor would provide much needed help.

The Kings are only really two deep up front. Donte Greene is too raw, Sean May is Sean May, Kenny Thomas is done, and Jon Brockman is a project. I think their goal is to be 3 deep. In spite of Thompson and Hawes being on rookie contracts, I still wouldn't trade an expiring contract for Okafor. At least clear some money.
