Hello all, Nets/Mavericks fan here.
I wanted to get plenty of diverse feedback on a 3-way deal with
Charlotte, New Jersey and Phoenix I recently made in the Trades and Transactions forum. So, I'm asking each of the fanbases of teams involved in the deal to tell me what you think.
Please respond in the linked thread as opposed to this one, so we can keep the discussion centered in one location. Thanks.

I did not see that as a good move for the Cats. I don't think Harris is better than Felton. Then the rest is us giving away players.

I like the trade for the Nets. Love the idea of "Wall Insurance" with Ray.
That said, I'd have to pass. I love Harris but he's been too injury prone for my liking. At least we know Ray is going to lace them up every night.

im on the fence about this one. harris has lots of upside. his scoring is fantastic. on paper he is the better long term investment. adding dj makes it even. collins is a waste.
however, i wonder if harris would mesh well with jax. how would the team respond? how would harris handle playing for LB? would our defense suffer? who knows

Harris' scoring is better but his game is not much of an upgrade. What we gain in scoring comes at a loss of defense and general toughness. Felton is going to play almost every game and Harris is going to miss 15 or so a year. Now we have to give up our promising young back-up pg to get a even trade older pg. This is a complete loss we gain nothing from this deal and stand to lose a lot.

I know that Ray's been playing well this season, but I don't see how we can pass on this. Yeah, Harris has had injury problems, but he's definitely better than Ray. He's always been better offensively, and when he was at Dallas he was one of the league's premier PG defenders. I'm not one for ILBIT, but it wouldn't even really be a project to turn Harris back into a fantastic defender, a better one than Ray in fact. The potential upside here is very big, and the potential downside is basically that he gets injured a lot going forward.

Felton's in a BYC though doesn't that make the trade impossible?

He's got to approve the trade, which he'd never do.

A few questions:
1. Harris might be a better scorer than Felts, but (based on this season as least) is it fair to say that Felts is a better shooter and that shooting is a liability of Harris?
2. Harris gets paid around 9mil a year flat - right? I'd like to think we could sign Felts for less than that this summer. If that is the case, I would rather go with Felts.
3. Can we PLEASE have T.Will coming back to us? The Suns can have Henderson.

Your love for T-Will knows no bounds. It is truly a beautiful thing - in a purely sports oriented way of course.

I hadn't watched him all year but I happened to catch his last two games and the juices started flowing again!!
Plus I think he might be the PERFECT student for a guy like Jax to mentor - who he could eventually replace in a couple of years.

I agree. It doesn't matter anyway because there is no way in hell we trade Felton in the middle of the season for a demoralized GIMPY point guard who is leading his team into the toilet. And we have to give up DJ????? Hells no to this stupid trade. Harris is OVERRATED.

Based on this season? Sure, I guess. I'm not so sure we should bank on Felton continuing to shoot .400 from 3 though... normally the two are both bad shooters. Harris, though, is a player who has demonstrated that he can be a #1/#2 option type of scorer, as he did last year.
We'll see how much Felton signs for. I'm not so sure that he'll end up much cheaper, if he keeps up his current level of play.
I think the reason to take the trade is based on two things: 1) that Harris has not forgotten how to play basketball and can return to last season form, and 2) his injuries don't completely ruin his tenure with us. 65 games isn't good, but it's acceptable. 40 isn't, and 60 where 10 are awful isn't either.

T.Will last night in a win against the Clippers. Because Harris and Lee were out, he got extended mins:
31mins
7pts (3/7 from the floor, 1/1 from the line)
9 boards
8 assists
1 steal
and although it doesn't appear in his line, I'm positive he had a block.
That's flirting with a triple double.
He looked poised, confident and awesome. He's jumper is still busted, but he looked great - and he's only a rookie.

Are you serious that you want Terrence Williams? This guy can't shoot straight for the life of him, has no consistency at all and can't get solid minutes on a team as bad as the Nets.

What exactly did you propose we would trade (and the Nets would take) for this 37% shooter?

Hendo and Law
for
Williams and Boone
I'd happily add 25 future unprotected 1st round picks if that means teh deal gets done though.

Williams looks like a lottery bust so far. Why would we trade for him?

Because he has pretty eyes.
