Brown wants to trade DJ

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... 008_draft/Thing is... he he trades DJ for a PF will this PF come off the bench or start? I guess when Diaw blows we'd have someone to fill in and play hard at that position. I wonder what kind of production a guy like Diaw could provide off the bench. Although, 9m/year is pretty hefty for a bench player.

(1) ILBTT.
(2) We can only hope Brown is just as eager to make up for his other mistakes.

I'm more worried about Law or Flip playing the back up PG position than if Boris would start or come off the bench at this point!
I can smell a fleecing coming on...........

and the list of awful list of draft day decisions goes on...
but maybe its best to move dj now while he still has some value. another year under LB and dj may be in the fetal position in the corner of the locker room.
fwiw - dj did look decent for 4 minutes of game time last night.

If he's gonna trade DJ, I'd love to see him try and package Gana or Tyson and get a real contributor while alleviating some cap pressure. Granted, you're not going to get a truly fantastic player that way, but:
Charlotte gets: Troy Murphy, Earl Watson
Indiana gets: Tyson Chandler, DJ Augustin
Gives the cats exactly what they need.
Boris moves to the bench, pick up another reliable shooter, a strong rebounder. Not as creative as Boris, but with Jack out there, his playmaking isn't as much of a requirement, and he can change games off the bench.

troy would be HUGE here.
would the pacers be motivated to make that deal?

i smell an elton brand trade but i could be wrong..
i think he will try to package dj and diaw for a true pf, unless he wants to keep diaw for his ball handling skills to make up for a lack of a decent back up at point. but i think that could be over kill.
i hope he brings in a proper low post scoring pf who can rebound and is ready for minutes straight away. aka a prototypical vet 4.
diaw has looked awful lately as he has no distinct role every night due to jax being a good distributer. he only has flashes when the matchups are right. can they afford this?
getting troy murphy sounds like a LB move!

The Indiana Pacers have asked a steep price from the Cleveland Cavaliers for Troy Murphy(notes): Zydrunas Ilgauskas(notes), J.J. Hickson(notes) and a No. 1 draft pick.
My guess would be no.
I think Slam's idea on BCP is probably most likely:
DJ/Gana
for
Kenny Thomas
I fully expect to get taken...and this one would qualify.

Woord is they've been trying to flip Troy, but I'm assuming they'd want an expiring, which we don't really have. DJ is still enough of an asset that he could be used to pry an older player away. Only concern might be that they want to get more minutes for Hibbert. Alternatively, I guess we could include Nazr since Tyson is on the verge of returning, but he would be difficult to let go given Nazr's play, and I think a team like Indy would prefer the younger option (maybe they could somehow convince Tyson to opt out, heh).
If Indiana views DJ as a possible PG of the future, then they make the trade. If they view him as TJ Ford Jr., who is now piling up DNPCD's, then obviously they don't make it. But it's worth a phone call to see what we can string together to get him.

After seeing spectre's post, never mind. Pacers sound like they'd demand Crash and our 2011 first or something like that.
I would be fine with getting Gana's deal off the books, although Thomas bring zero to the table. Don't know if that's really the point of making the trade, unless anyone thinks Thomas can actually come in and produce anything more than we get out of UPS.

well try are trying to fleece the cavs as they are trying to get over the top. if cavs flat out refuse then they will drop the bar.
for what its worth our equivalent would be tyson, dj, and future pick. although jj is ahead of dj but cavs pick will be end of first while our future pick should be middle first. that sounds way too much
when (if) they drop the bar we could drop the pick but still that's a lot

I wish Brown would just stick to coaching. He truly sucks at the other job he's so desperate to control. I hope we don't trade Augustin, because of exactly that. With LB behind the trade, we're sure to get hosed.

Not really my idea, more like you said, the kind of stupid thing I could see happening.

The Knicks sat Duhon the entire 2nd half last night.
They need a point, we need a PF.
Can't we just trade DJ for Hill straight up, shake hands and both parties walk away happy?

Magic fan here. I'm hearing rumors of a DJ/filler for Bass/Johnson Swap. How is his game? Does he play defense? Just wondering.

If the Pacers are truly resigned to rebuilding, and if they have faith in DJ's ability to develop into a quality starting PG (I personally have my doubts) then this deal would make sense for both parties. Once Hansbrough comes back healthy, they will have freed up minutes for him at the 4. They can peddle Chandler's contract next year as an expiring.
Murphy is a strong PF. He gives you 14 points and 10 rebounds per game and does so efficiently. Plus the guy can even step out and shoot the three ball at a good clip. He's never going to be named to any all defensive teams but he has size for the 4 at 6'11 and does a passable job. He's over paid but so is Chandler. And Murphy's deal expires after next year also.
Watson has given Indiana some decent minutes at PG off the bench. His shot has always been shakey but he defends and makes reasonably good decisions with the ball

Shades of the Gana signing. The FO lusts after a guy, doesn't get him in FA and ends up trading for him within a year or so.
DJ's defense is very underrated (and as everyone knows I value D over everything). He has his weak spots like working thru screens and dribble penetration, but for his size I think he's a very good defender. He would definitely fall into the mode of surrounding Howard with long ball shooters.

I'd be all over that. Bass would be a real nice rotation player in the frontcourt, and I've always maintained an affinity for Anthony Johnson. Dude is just solid.
