Bobcats Acquire Tyrus Thomas for Law, Murray +1st

If there is decent protection on the first rounder then this is a great deal. If not its still a good deal. Wallace+Thomas = crazy

The Bobcats are close to landing Tyrus Thomas in a deal with the Bulls that would send expiring contracts and a future protected (according to Ric Bucher) first round pick to Chicago, a person with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com.

A source told Yahoo! that a deal between the Bulls and Knicks for Thomas is now considered a longshot.

Update: Yahoo! reports that Acie Law and Flip Murray will be the two players sent to Chicago for Thomas if this deal is finalized.

Update No. 2: Yahoo! reports that this deal has now been formally agreed upon.

Lots of websites are reporting it now.

Its a heavily protected 2012 1st, with a chance the Bulls never see it if we miss the playoffs this season and keep our pick.

Does anyone have anymore information regarding the pick?

This sounds like an awful trade.

Sweet! This is a huge + as it also means more minutes for DJ/Hendo!

This sounds like a great trade. Murray provided some nice pop off the bench but we really needed front court help and a defensive minded player - Thomas fits the bill.

As for the pick, I hope there is some protection but frankly given our management's track record with picks I am happy to turn them into something of obvious value.

Insert face palm smiley right here. ANOTHER 1st? Lord.

I'm amazed we were willing to move Flip...figured LB wouldn't want to give him up.

Still, we got us a backup 4.

Meh on the pick, and I'll miss Flip's scoring, but this hopefully forces Larry to refrain from the ultra small lineups at the end of games, since Flip was normally a part of those.

I guess those two corner 3's that Hulk hit against the Nets made Flip expendable, heh.

Really want to see how protected the pick is, if its 2012, I'm OK with it.

Ridiculous athleticism at the 3 and 4 spots now, but if he's nothing more than a rental and there's no interest in resigning him, I'd have rather just given one of our 2nd rounders this year.

Adrian Wojnarowski is the same guy that said we were giving up our 2010 1st round pick in a trade last week - when we don't even have our 1st 2010 1st round pick!

How much do you think he'd have to show over what he's already shown to warrant a 6+ million qualifying offer from us next year?

I definitely think he's a rental, but it'd be nice if I were wrong.

Well, we have a roster spot open. Watch us sign some bum like Rashad McCants just to prove Larry can whip him into shape and fill the Flip role.

Maybe he and Hendo can get into fights at practice.

If that first round pick is heavily protected I can't really blame the Bobcats for pulling the trigger on this deal but...

Tyrus doesn't really strike me as a LB player. His biggest problem in Chicago was his boneheadedness, I don't see this relationship ending well, but I wish you guys the best.

Might make him a valuable trading chip next season though? Along with TC and Nazzy we would have some solid expiring contracts with talent associated to them trade or worst case scenario some serious coin to come off the books in the summer of 2011.

Larry Brown loved Tyrus when he came out of LSU. In fact he called him the top prospect in the draft, if I'm not mistaken.

I'll take a boneheaded contributor with MJ and LB looming over him than the current rofltroop we have playing the 4 spot currently [namely Diaw].
