He is right, he is very well connected and its only going to help this team. From Nike to Hanes to Gatorade, the Bobcats are set.

I was waiting for a "are you going to re-brand the team" question but they never asked. Also, Stu Scott was there but didn't ask anything. I wonder why he was there.

He did a interview with local reporters right after the news conference and answered some better thought-out questions...

Wonder if the city of Charlotte would have a strong support to the rebranding? I could go either way personally...

Heres an answer to the rebranding

bobcats.com: Will you be changing the team name?

Michael Jordan: It’s an option we could consider down the road. We’ll evaluate everything, but for now, no.

i heard it in my car today. very happy with what MJ had to say. he really sounds focused and seems to really understand what it will take to get the city behind the team. great stuff.

he should name the team the Charlotte Jordans or Charlotte AIR. Maybe it'll expand the market a bit more.

:D :D :D Congratulations MJ and Congratulation CHARLOTTE. I thought the news conference was outstanding. The Bobcats organization is going places. Nothing but up from here.
1.WE have the owner now . Who but Michael Jordan(the greatest player to lace um up) should be the first NBA Player to own a team?
2.WE have the coach. Larry Brown is probably one of the top three NBA coachs of all time.
3. WE have the front office.
4. WE are very close to having all the player s in place on the TEAM to make a run next year deep into the playoffs. THIS TEAM might surprise people this year?
5. WE the fans of Charlotte are ready to support not just MJ and the Bobcats, but Also This is now The Carolinas Team (North/ South). We need to fill up Time Warner Arena and show the NBA what a real 6th man sounds like rockin the house!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blazer fan here: Congrats on what may turn out to be a great transition for your franchise. People often point at the model of the Wizards and doubt Jordan, but I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that he wasn't a majority owner. It should be interesting to see how the Bobcats turn out. I hope they can be a pleasant surprise.

-Signed, a closet Bobcats fan.
