Raja Bell

Post#1 » by Stun704 » Fri Mar 26, 2010 5:33 pm

Raja will probably be waived by the warriors, what are the chances he signs back here during the off season?

Very low. Just for reference though, Raja was already waived on March 23rd.
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7000 ... -Bell.html

The Warriors and the NBA overall just didn't really make too much of it. They waived him to keep Reggie Williams and every mention of Raja is more or less "oh by the way, Raja was cut"

Any team that is going to sign him is going to sign him as a "Depth" guy, so it will what team he likes best. There has been some minor blurbs about teams bringing him now to have him for next offseason, but it really doesn't make much sense. They can't use him for the playoffs and its not like demand for him is going to be all that high.

I guess he is out for the season with the wrist, but pretty poor form by the GSW's FO to cut him AFTER the deadline for him to sign with a playoff team this season.

Who know's, maybe he could have come back and helped someone post season?

It doesn't really surprise me. I'm sure GS Front Office wasn't exactly enamored with the idea that Raja was going to play for us but packed it up as soon as he got to the bay area. Probably felt screwed over so it was their retaliation of making sure he definitely didn't come back this year at all.

That article is a little bit surprising to me. Hes played in the Minors, with 6 different NBA teams, and I think even overseas. Its a business, its not that Larry Brown thought he sucked, its that he thinks Stephen Jackson is a better fit. Which ironically he is.

The Warriors waiting until past the deadline surprises me, but that organization has been just "off" for so long.
Although, this has been a weird season of really bad teams hanging onto expiring vets for no reason whatsoever. Want proof, look at the Nets roster.

He moved (his family) to Charlotte and wanted to stay here, even wanted an extension (I guess not costy one, he seems to be smarter guy than say Darko). To no avail. That was in the off-season.

They pushed him to play injured telling him how they need him in starting 5 and just after that they traded him.

- it could happened different way, but there is certainly room for possible POV from Raja standpoint which could make him a bit upset and bitter.

Remember we have a history of not handling those situations well, it is not like Knight departion was smooth for example. Hopefully they are smart enough not do somethign that would upset Jax.

I've read the article, doesn't mean he wouldn't come back here, just because he feels used, he could probably see it was better for the bobcats in the long run, even if Raja continued to play here we would be loto bound, so if he comes back here anyways I think the "bitterness" would go away because we would be even better...and he would be in a better situation then he was the start of this season

At the end of the day, Raja would come back here to finish out his career. Having him as depth at the SG spot off the bench, with the defense we have on this team... that's not a bad option to have. Better than Hughes.

Disagree because:

A) Hughes can play 3rd string point
and
B) Hughes can create his own shot

Two things Bell can't do.

I agree, I think we should keep hughes if its plausiable financially in the offseason, but who would you rather have, Graham or Bell? If we brought Bell back he would be taking Grahams role.

I like me some Hulk, but 100% Raja.

He'd bring much of what Hulk brings, but he would also bring that "swagger".

I agree, so we should bring back bell, Jax/Hughes/Bell combo would be dangerous and extreme depth, if we brought back TT and Felton I think we would be a top 4 team in the east next season

im pretty sure bell doesnt want to come back to charlotte. he was not happy about getting traded after moving his family here and being coerced into playing thru the wrist injury at the beginning of the season.

Big Z also said he felt used about being a pawn for the Jamison trade yet he came back to the Cavs without hesitation

and cleveland is the favorite to make it to the finals.

if raja had spent 10 years in charlotte and we were in 1st place, he might put aside his hurt feelings for a run at the title for the fans that supported him for 10 years.
