Guys, this is just the first part of the upgrade. There will be many things that will be worked out in the near future, all for the better. Trust me. When this is updated and polished to its finest, it will be a LOT better than it was before.

But like every upgrade, it will take some time to get used to it. Remember when RealGM decided to align everything to the left side of the page after being centered for so long? People complained for the first 2 weeks, but ever since, its been the norm and its been a part of the RealGM we all know and love now.

Just be patient. It'll provide us all with the best message board experience in no time.

There should just be an option for the old skin since a lot of people are bickering and moaning about this one.. it's not that big of a deal, leave RealGM if you hate it that much.

I got a few suggestions:

1. Stretch it out a little, right now it only occupies like 3/4 of my screen and that's a lot of wasted space.

2. Make the news-scroller frame at the top hideable, it's too big takes up too much room.

so the quotes suck, the quick reply is non-existent and the general layout is confusing.

what exactly is the benefit of it though?

horrible decision.

Don't like the color scheme, but if that and other problems are fixed, this upgrade should be for the best

FWIW I can't even edit my sig. Seems it will only allow 65 frickin pixels in height now. I was just going to remove the line of text but won't if the only solution is to replace my pic with a smaller one.

The 90 x 400 image plus one line of text is fine and still what is stated as acceptable in sig guidelines. I will have to assume that someone f****d this up by mistake.

I will also have to assume that this along with all the other balatantly obvious issues will be FIXED.

I'll give it some time...

maybe it's me but the new format is slow -- hopefully there's still some tweaks they have to fix. and hopefully those tweaks don't take a day because yesterday i actually had to go outside and talk to real people .. it was scary.

supersteve wrote:1. Is there any way to change the number of posts per page? 10 posts/page is downright stupid and it makes a lot more sense to be able to pick larger numbers. I prefer 40, but whatever.

2. All the blues are too similar, making everything look cramped.

3. The RealGM headlines was a lot better than the slides. If it stays I'll make a greasemonkey script to get rid of it.

4. Message body width shouldn't be fixed. It's 2008, we all have decent monitors and there's no reason why the width stays fixed, resulting in half the browser window being filled up with absolutely nothing.

100% agree with these four points. My two gripes were the 10 posts/page limit and the fixed width. I was disappointed to see neither was fixed by this "upgrade".

i've thought of an idea and i'm not reading all 18 pages to make sure nobody else said this so my apologies -- why not make every forum the team colors??

like the Celtics will have green, Lakers will have gold and purple, Knicks will have orange and blue, etc

I really hope that a priority can be made for posting a message. I don't see any reason at all for alerting us before we post a page that another user has posted a message on the same thread.

It was never a problem before, don't know why that's needed. I can definitely see this as a huge annoyance for game threads.

Now I need make 3 mouse clicks in order to submit a message (1st for "Post Reply", 2nd for "Submitting", and 3rd for submitting again if another user has posted).

We're in 2008.

Besides quotes and quick reply, here's my biggest gripe.

Whats with that useless grey bar at the right side of the site? It just strains the eye due to its darkness, and is used for what? Filling empty space? THat would mean RealGM only uses HALF the screen for actual posting?

Why not stretch out the posting area and eliminate that grey vertical bar?

Here's what I think would be for the best of the board.

1. Make wiretap thing smaller vertically, and stretch it out horizontally (much like the old).
2. Move posting up so it comes close to wiretap.
3. Make posting space longer horizontally so it eliminates the useless grey bar (of course, not stretched out text like in this graphic i made, just tryna show how much space should be for posting).

Here's my now-and-then.

don't like the new layout. Everything seem so clutter and theres all these buttons and what not. I like the clean and simple layout and still preferr that over this. this layout looks more confusing and bleh...
