Solution to hiding slide show and other space killers

Post#522 » by funk » Tue Jun 17, 2008 3:05 pm

Guys, if your main concern about the board is the space taken up at the top and the cramped look width wise and you have firefox, the solution is right here: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=814541#p16691177

I've actually been on the board a lot more since I applied that. it's SO much better. Yes you will miss the wiretap but it's just way too intrusive as it is now anyways. Plus the author of that may be changing/updating the script to match the old colours as well....

I'm sure this is posted but I didn't want to wade through 35 pages to check.

Bug: The slide show at the top causes the entire page to fade in and out when it switched slides. Hard on the eyes and very annoying.

Request:

The links in posts used to automatically open in a new tab or window in the earlier version. This was useful because we could click on a link that would lead to an external site/image/video and still stay on RealGM. Can we get that back please. It's good for RealGM too :)

Thanks.

What browser are you using? That doesn't happen to me on Firefox...

Agreed, the bold isn't very noticeable at all..

The quoted text was bolded, and you can barely notice.

I personally dont like the new layout.

But meh, I'm in no position to complain. Well, I am. But, I'm in no position to make a complaint that should be seen as important.

Some peoples problems relate more to the out-dated browsers they are using than Real Gm.

I'm all for upgraded forum software, but at least keep the color scheme.

Every other uncustomized forum software has the same stock colors...

Or you can have 2 options

1. New Skin
2. Old Skin..

That way ppl can choose which one they want to use?

That's not an excuse IMO. I've designed web sites, and you create your site so that it is robust, and will work amongst many browsers. You test on recent versions of all browsers, because not everyone uses the same browser and version number. Blaming the users browser in this case is just an easy way out.

It's been said twice in this thread that the color scheme will be changed back to the old scheme soon. How soon? Not sure. Could be a few weeks, could be a few months.

I prefer the old forum to this one but I don't really have as much of a problem with it as some of you people do. I just don't see the problems. I mean, it has it's bugs. Like eating posts, etc. But it's not so bad that it's making me not go to this site anymore.
