Devin Booker: ‘I'd like to build a superteam’ in Phoenix

Post#1 » by DeathLineup » Wed Nov 28, 2018 3:51 am

To win in the NBA today, a 'superteam' – a team stacked with stars – is virtually mandatory. Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker knows this, and he wants to be a part of one in the near future. But, unlike some other stars that were willing to relocate in order to join fellow top-tier talents, Booker wants the superteam to come to him.

"I'd like to build a superteam," Booker said, via Yahoo Sports. "I'd like the superteam to come to me… If that's through free agency, people seeing what we have here with the big fella [DeAndre Ayton] and myself and wanting to join in on that, to reach higher heights, then I'm with that."

Nice to dream, but how does he plan on doing that when he is a borderline top 30 player and earning 30m per? He wants others to take discounts to join him. Good luck with that.

I like this from the young man. He's putting it out there that he thinks they can build something and Phoenix should be thrilled that he is trying to attract it there. I like that he isn't sweating the big markets and likes where he is and is trying to find like minded players to create something there. I was already a fan. Hope they will get a pg and they can get back on the upswing.

He should still improve. It could happen if sarver isn't there. Phoenix is a nice city even if it's hot as hell.

Nothing to make fun of here. Not sure what else he's supposed to say. "Hopefully KAT and I are free agents in the same year and we end up in Miami"

Better hope Ayton does become Robinson 2.0 and a top 10 player joins PHX as Booker currently is a slightly worse version of Klay Thompson with added playmaking (who has been the second and tertiary option on a true title contending team for years). However, he still has plenty of time take the next step.

As it stands a Jimmy Butler caliber player wouldn't be enough to move the real needle. Hypothetically, Giannis or AD make the Suns scary for years (assuming Ayton takes the next step that he's more than capable of)

Is there a tool to see which player leads the GB in threads this year?

Must say right now Booker is the better offensive player compared to Klay. Both are really good shooters. But Booker can create his own shots, Klay can’t.

Klay is much better defensively though.

They will get their 3rd star this summer, but not from FA market, but from Duke.

They should, but that is far from certain with the new draft odds. Even if they come dead last, they only have a 40.1% chance of getting a top 3 pick.

Maybe he's planning on retiring and become a general manager for the team.

his contract is precisely the reason there will be no super team in Phx. The irony here is palpable.

Their chances to get TOP3 pick will be 40% as #29 or #28 too, and what is the chance some big FA star, max-contract level join them? 10% at the best. Draft or Trade (using Jackson, Bridges, Warren, 2019 first), and BIG3 will be there! Probably not as good as Nash-Marion-Amare, but maybe with a deeper roster.

Does he think he will be the future GM of the Suns or something?

Question is, is he good enough to be the alpha of that superteam?
