is it possible the coaches don't want to strain relations with other teams so they told their FO to say no to the knicks

first of all, what is said in the media doesnt neccessarily need to be true. Rose has always operated in silence. We dont know who their A-Listers are.

secondly, Leon is just doing his due dilligence and turns every stone. I dont think he expected to get permission to talk to those coaches. that would be a little naive.

And lastly before we hired thibs, Leon and the Knicks went through an almost 3 months interview process with all kinds of different candidates. And i expect this coaching search to go simillarly

We're a couples days away from a tweet like:

Shanghai Sharks decline Knicks interview with Lu Wei.

In a week they'll start asking RealGM.com to interview the top GB minds.

they coulda had pitino but they were too stuck up and aloof to consider him

Also who would want to coach a team that just fired the coach that got them to the eastern conference finals. First time in like 30 years.

They must have had a very good reason to want to ask and it's probably because Kidd is unhappy with Dallas considering what they did with the Luka deal.
But how do you explain the Quinn Snyder, Billy Donovan, Chris Finch, and Ime Udoka requests? They can't all be unhappy.

Mike Brown is actually a pretty decent coach and did not deserve to be fired last time. So I don't expect the Knicks to hire him

and of course there's the very public media blast from carlissimo and barkley that hasn't helped any. IF brown turns nyk down they've sunk to a new low. he's forever been the de rigueuer go-to coach when all else fails

i have to say,,,,,,,this list is even longer that my bruin's list lo these past 40yrs

They are probably talking to guys like brown about being a veteran assistant to a Johnny Bryant kind of coach or a first timer which would be exactly what they should be doing.

You have 3 coaches that made it at least to the finals within the last 5 years. Monty would also be fun from the perspective that he was a rookie for the Knicks when I really got into Basketball and was still collecting cards.

Yeah, this really has Dolan written all over him. Was generally open for at least some candidates, but really don't see the point of getting rid of Thibs to replace him with Mike Brown. Solid coach, but definitely not the right choice for our current situation. At this point I'm just waiting for Byron Scott to be brought up, or how about we give Don Nelson a 2nd chance  .
