Why would the Celtics do this? Nico would have to add something to sweeten the deal. Stevens isn't a muppet like Pelinka. He can't rip him off.

Wait. What? Trade what appears to be an unusually strong #1 pick for a guy coming off of knee surgery who is paid a huge amount of money and who isn't a Top 20 NBA player by any statistical measure?

You guys gotta be kidding me. That would be a historically bad trade for Dallas. Maybe even as bad as Paul George for SGA.

By "next season," are you referring to 2026-2027? As neither Kyrie nor Brown will be ready for the start of next season (2025-2026), they'd not be "favorites" for anything beyond another lottery pick.

The article says Brown will be ready for training camp in October.

Nah he won’t be ready of course he’s constantly injured.

Why would Dallas trade Flagg for a 29 year-old with consistent health issues and who doesn't have the same kind of upside?

That makes literally NO sense.

Because the Mavs are in win-now mode with AD and Kyrie, and adding Brown would make them the favorites for next season.

Kyrie might not even play until March next season with his injury and there's a good chance he will be washed already. It will be a huge mistake if Mavs offer Irving a contract longer than 2 years if he opts-out but it seems like they are planning to offer 3-4 years max money. Wemby, Jokic and SGA maybe Hali are the only players I can see the Mavs even considering trading Flagg and that's not gonna happen either.

If Nico does that deal, he'd be better off hightailing it out of Dallas. Then again, he idiotically gave away Luka for pennies on the dollar so nothing should surprise us especially considering that he has convinced ownership who doesn't care about basketball that he's a savant.
