i thought this theory has vanished after the championships of nuggets, bucks and raptors.

Toronto, FWIW, is not a small market. They are one of the bigger markets in the league. Pretty much the entire Atlantic Division is big market: NY Knicks, Philly Sixers, Boston/New England Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors. Northeast US.

But, you are correct about the Nuggets, Bucks, Cavs, Spurs, Pistons, etc winning championship over the years. Portland TBlazers and Seattle SuperSonics also each won 1 during the late '70s.

Time to scratch OKC off of the list.
Indiana came close but will be due soon.

The one I’m most confident in them never winning is New Orleans. They have absolutely no chance unless they get an ownership change.

in each and every instance there were major injuries, luck, officiating aiding them

1) Bucks beat a Nets team in 7 games despite only getting Kyrie and Harden for 4 games.

2) Raptors beat the Sixers on a lucky shot and beat a Warriors team without KD and Klay and Looney both missing a game

3) Nuggets faced the Wolves without McDaniels and the Heat without their 2nd best scorer in Herro, a banged up Lowry and no Oladipo

4) OKC Scott Foster Game 4, Haliburton injury against the Pacers and overall laughable one-sided officiating all season.

btw the Spurs aren't a small market team. They have no state taxes giving them an advantage with FAs and trades other small market teams don't enjoy, San Antonio is the 7th most populated city in the country and have no other professional sports teams to take attention away from the Spurs and clearly the league favors them as they've rigged three different draft lotteries to benefit them in the last quarter century but people, please laughably continue to bring them up every time this discussion comes up

Have never won, and then if you don't count the St Louis Hawks, Rochester Royals, and the Sonics championships, the Hawks, Kings, and Thunder haven't won any either.

EDIT - Pacers and Nets both won ABA championships.

I think the Cavaliers will definitely win one before LeBron retires.

I doubt the Nuggets will ever win a Championship.

Looks like I got 1 out of 2 predictions right.

Suns
Jazz
Hornets
Clippers
Grizzlies

I feel pretty confident that I will die before I see Charlotte or New Orleans in the NBA Finals. Not giving up hope on the Clippers or Grizzlies.

Depends how long you live. Dumars just set the Pelicans back 20 years in the last week alone.

4 new champions (5 if you count OKC) since the topic opened still 10 more to go. There was a big doubt in the first page for Giannis so never say never. The possibility is higher with the 2nd apron but still as a 37 years old I don't think it's a possibility for me. And it will be more impossile if they expand to 32 teams.
- Wolves and Pacers are the closest perhaps in the near future.
- Ja Morant-JJJ duo still have a future if JA can remain healty and penalty free but West is too tough for them.
- Clippers and Suns are going to rebuild but with Balmer and the new arena Clippers will try to strike again very soon.
- I won't be surprised if Magic makes the final four / finals this season but it won't be easy for them to beat West's contender.
- Future is dark for the others unfortunately.

Spurs have the 24th largest metro area in the country. They just have a huge city limit allow the city only population to look bigger. They're barely bigger in terms of metro than Sacramento.

Wizards (Bullets) won the NBA Finals in 1978. Their heydeys/Glory Years were during the '70s.

Do people think the Raptors were guaranteed to lose or something if that game went to OT?

Also, if were brining kevin **** looney, bring up Anunoby to.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.
