Brandon Williams is going to make this roster, I think. I have the Mavs in the playoffs next year. Once they're fully whole they will have a crazy combination of players Kidd can throw out there. I would not bring back Dinwiddie or Exum though. Let them dudes walk. They're washed.

Apparently Kyrie is looking at a possible January return if all goes right. I think the team looks very, very good on paper once he returns. Health is a concern though, but that notwithstanding I buy them as a contender.

I’ll believe it when I see it. The team may say he’s good for January, then February, then March, then for next year.

this is the same team that brought AD back way too early and tried to do the same with Luka, they will definitely be aggressive bringing him back, likely too aggressive for their own good

They’re still too big for my liking. I’d sell high on Lively … like a Lively to Indiana for Nembhard sort of move, or to Sacramento for Keegan Murray (or something like that). As AD ages I just don’t think he’s a 4’ and Lively is too good for limited role. Plus Flagg more a 4.

They're still primed to do a couple more moves/signings this offseason. Assuming they get off some salary on the margins and sign one of Tyus Jones, Dlo, Brogdon for the TPMLE they're one of the deepest teams when healthy.

Kyrie/Tyus
Klay/Christie
Flagg/Naji/Caleb Martin
AD/PJ Washington
Gafford/Lively

That's a legit 11 man rotation with star power and also a lot of untapped potential. I think they're a playoff team next year even with Kyrie missing half the season and a potential force in the playoffs if healthy. If they can consolidate one of their bigs + one of their wings and/or Klay for an even better piece that fits they'd be even scarier.

The current Mavericks brain trust aside from Kidd is awful.

They must play a very tall team:

Brandon Williams/Hardy
Klay/Naji Marshall/Max
Flagg/Caleb/Prosper
AD/PJ/
Lively/Gafford/Powell

Injured: Irving (must be back after ASG)
UFA: Spencer, Exum, Kai Jones
RFA: Edwards
BAF Brooklyn - Pre-Season NBA 2K Simulation 2023 Champions.

Brunson/Nembhard/Micic
IQ/Strus/Ben Sheppard
Butler/Nesmith/Watford
Batum/Boucher/Morris/
Embiid/Plumlee/Landale/

If Kyrie and AD are out all year wouldn’t that mean that Cooper Flagg has to/gets to be the man? The rest of the Mavs team is really good, especially the front court. Cooper Flagg is going to get a lot of opportunities to be a playmaker. A front court of Flagg/Lively/Gafford is pretty formidable.

Brandon Williams is going to be huge for them while Kyrie is out.

After the return of Kyrie, they will be good. Assuming Dlo agreed to come to DAL for the mini MLE. The roster is set for DAL, and the depth that DAL have should be able to allow sufficient rest during the regular season, especially to Klay, AD & Kyrie, and keep them fresh in playoff time.

Dlo/Bwill/Max/Celab/Naji/Flagg/PJ/Lively/Gafford 9-man rotation may be enough to hold their own for certain regular games already.

The real question is, who is going to handle the ball?

It depends how good Flagg is in year 1.

They could be a second round team (assuming no Kyrie) if Flagg is a stud out of the gates. Dallas still has AD and a solid supporting cast. Same core that was the best team in the West 2 season ago. Elite front court that will cook. AD/Flagg/Gafford/Lively is a nightmare.

I mean this is the whole thing right? Pencil Kyrie in for what? 20 games max. 60 for AD? 50 for Klay?

Tbh I think Flagg and Lively will look good together but there is no likelihood of real contention for me.

They should clear out everyone not named Flagg, Lively, Gafford and Washington

Klay is not that nice without Steph Curry. Kyrie is injured and he’s getting up there in age as a 6ft 1 PG. Anthony Davis is also getting up there in age and still continues to have untimely injuries after chasing LeBron’s tail for many years as a subserviant 2nd star. Cooper Flagg is a week or so older than rookie LeBrons debut who had no pressure and got rid of the guys who could’ve helped him win games on the Cavs due to comments they made - Carlos Boozer, Darius Miles, Ricky Davis among others - due to an ego trip. Unlike Bron they’re trying to give Cooper pressure to win now being compared to Luka, instead of him just gunning shots and being able to make mistakes. This team imo is a borderline playoff team in the West. East? Possibly top 5.
