Who's your early contender for ROTY?
IMO this will be pretty hard to judge because the top 3 picks were drafted to playoff teams (when healthy).
My pick is Demin. Should be the starting lead guard on day 1 and with not much competition, he should be putting up big numbers.

It's flagg's to lose. He had all kinds of expectations in his first season at Duke and he surpassed them all.
He was as dominant a college player that I've seen in years.

He was dominant playing as a bigman in college, but he'll be transitioning to playing more like a Tatum like big wing in the pros. The guy played like a Chet/AD type guy in college, but unlike those guys he's 6'7 3/4" and obviously won't be playing like that in the pros. He has a transition to make.
All that being said, I think he'll be in the running for ROY.

Harper will fighting Fox, Castle and Wemby for the ball. I would be surprised if he averages more than 12 ppg

Harper and Bailey have a pathway to a lot of minutes at their positions. Flagg could impact winning, even his counting stats don't pop. Edgecombe is tough. I need to know what happens to Grimes first. If he's gone, then VJ could be a surprise playing with Maxey in an electric backcourt.
I like Fears as well, but 18 year old point guards take a little time. He could have some crazy highlights though.

I’ve never seen him play outside of highlights. I don’t know about rookie of the year but he’s super intriguing, can’t wait to see him this year. Measured over 6’8” barefoot at the combine, probably be listed at 6’9”. Great ball handling skills for his size and an amazing passer. Still a teenager. Wish he shot the ball a little better when looking at his stats (only 27% from 3), but he’s super young. He did get up close to 5 attempts per game though, so he’s not afraid. The fact that he is more Josh Giddey than Ben Simmons in this respect bodes well for potential improvement with his shot

I don't follow college basketball, but unless Flagg is significantly better at this stage, I would think Harper or Bailey are the likely choice. Mavs were already good team if not for the injuries.

Flagg, duh. I suspect this'll be like the Wemby year in that the only thing that could conceivably stop him would be minutes (i.e., injury).

Re: Who's your early contender for ROTY?
This is Flagg for sure. He will have the opportunity and because he is already a good defender, on a good defensive team his impact won't only be PPG.
My outsider would be Tre Johnson because realistically he hasn't got anyone that is clearly ahead of him in terms of shot chart in the youngsters. Bub will improve and CJ will get his, but realistically the shots are going to be there.
Yang Hansen will be the undisputed ROY depending on where you live in the world though.

Ask after Summer League. Jazz will give Ace Bailey significant usage, as they're not likely trying to win this year, but it's a question of whether he's ready to put up 15 ppg in the pros.

Flagg was destroying team USA in a scrimmage before playing college basketball. This is his to lose.
