That is great news. Kid is a stud. Just needs an opportunity. I didn't realize he's already 25 though lol

You can attack Jerome on Defense. He helps the Cavs in the regular season but is useless in the playoffs

No he wasn’t useless, he was however asked to do more with the injuries and was overexposed. He is wonderful in his role

He was really, really bad against the Pacers.

Basically, they traded a wing (Okoro) for a point guard (Lonzo Ball) and drafted another point guard (Tyrese Proctor). So, it made more sense to keep a wing shooter (Merrill) than another point guard (Ty Jerome).

I would also say that Merrill was more playable than Jerome was in this year's second round series. I don't think that Jerome is as bad as he looked during that series (or as good as he looked in the Heat series) but it's possible that the Cavs value Merrill's consistency and effort more than they value Jerome's scoring ability.

I imagine the order things happened over the past couple of weeks is very important to what actually went down.

For instance if Altman was authorized to retain 3 of Merrill, Jerome, Wade, and Okoro, and Jerome's agent balked at the initial Cavs offer they may have turned around and offered it to Merrill, and then the Cavs felt they had to pivot and shore up their PG situation with Proctor and Ball.

Hence why everyone apparently knew the Cavs had an open roster spot for a 2nd rounder.

I'm still surprised because of how tight Altman, Mitchell, and Jerome are, so perhaps bruised egos were involved or we'll see but perhaps Memphis promised Jerome a bigger role.

Grizzlies pulled all the right moves this summer. Cole is still unplayable in serious basketball setting.

And really good during the RS and in the first round of the playoffs. Judging him primarily based on the Pacers series really doesn't seem fair.

That and the fact he kind of has a baby (mouse) face, makes me forget he's like 6'4 cause he just looks way smaller on the court

One bad playoff series vs good the entire season and had a really good round 1 against Miami.

Just one series was all it took for everyone to turn on him in Cleveland.

Cavs were injured and expected TY to carry the team in the second round of the playoffs give a break .

He had a pretty meh game against the Heat as well, it just didn't matter because Garland was healthy. The reason he signed with the Grizzlies was because he was told he could start there.
