For the best. Small framed athletic guards that plays no defense with a shoddy jumper have no place in a rotation in today's league. Needed to be more consistent with his successful stretches.

At time I thought it was a good move by Philly to take a chance on him. It seems like he's too inconsistent and you're right...this move is probably for the best.

Not even in the discussion. He wasn't even average level when he was in EuroLeague before.

Happy for Lonnie. More PT and less pressure. Hope he succeeds.

It is a shame he did not work out in the NBA, he had potential, I think he will do better in Israel if he can stay healthy, I wish him the best!

I know nba players are generally not the brightest minds but c'mon bro...how can you see what they're doing to civilians in Gaza and then go entertain war criminals WHILE they're in the middle of doing it. Insane. From a humanitarian pov, this is disgusting

Have you seen what’s going on here in the states? Latinos and other minorities are being kidnapped en masse, and are being held in concentration camps. Our government is also funding the genocide currently happening in Gaza…

U.S. basketball teams are funded by oligarch blood money. You think all these capitalist billionaires who own all these NBA franchises are clean?

If he was a 15 year pro who had a long, lucrative career I'd agree with you. But athletes like this have a shelf life, and journeymen like Lonnie who can't stick in the NBA have to use their gifts to earn a living while they can. He's not going there to join the military.

Yeah, I feared he would be one of those guys who trashes Lithuania after coming back to NBA, but it seems like he genuinely liked the experience. We will remember him as great guy. He is very hard player to judge tho, because in parts he looked like Euroleague superstar, but in other parts he looked completely figured out, and team went on season worst losing spree the moment he arrived. It was his first months in Europe tho, he probably still looked better than Nunn in his first months, and Nunn is not best guard in Europe now.

I am not very well familiar with that war, but over here, we condemn everyone who guys to play/work in Russia, One of our NT youth assistants work in Russia and it raised national disapproval that he is hired, and federation had to explain itself just now. so I understand if someone would feel the same about Israel. But I think still, Russian war is more black and white, there is no argument at all who is the bad guy there, where with Israel situation, I keep hearing arguments on which side is actually wrong, it does not seem as black and white, but again, I am not familiar with situation so I could be wrong. I just think it is weird that guys sign to play there, cause the city gets literally bombed nowadays. Like, they didn't even finish Israel championship this year, final series were cancel due to Iran bombing.

International players chose to play in the NBA during Bush war, just saying.

Some very very good players played for Maccabi, it was European basketball powerhouse forever, Lonnie could end up being all time great talent for them maybe, but he has a long way to go. As of now, he is just another signing of theirs, and it is not really a blockbuster one.

Maccabi has been having worst stretch right now, so I am actually surprised at this signing, I thought they would just wait out this terrible political situation where they can't even play at home soil during Euroleague.

Maybe they were moved by their rival Hapoel spending tons. For the first time in as long as I know, Tel Aviv Maccabi is not the strongest team of Israel or evel Tel Aviv, Hapoel putting up very strong roster for their Euroleague debut.

Last year, some non Israeli players were very cheeky and declined to play domestic league at all, they refused to even travel to israel, yet they were still paid full salary to just play in Euroleague. Maybe lazier players could exloit situation in theory, tho I doubt most players prefer not to do their Basketball obligations, I think they usaully actually like their profession.

Truly a wonderful guy.
Loved his time with the Lakers.
He has landed on a great franchise, in a wonderful place.

Amare Stoudmire played there too, helping them win the championship in Israel.

Good luck Lonnie! Very happy for him and wish him the best.
