Do you think Lebron will drop in all time rankings after he retires like what happened to Kobe?

Why do people start off with obvious lies that aren't even remotely useful? If you'd said top 10, which also wasn't true. At least then you'd have some level of grounds. Instead you do this and lose any credibility in anything else said.

Kobe was NEVER considered top 2. He wasn’t even a particularly consensus best player in the league for any extended period during his career.

Personally, he’s in the top 15-20 and that’s pretty much always where I have had him.

Will Lebron fall like Kobe? No.
He will however fall as fans become enamored by recent/current players.
At some point someone will say "SGA is the second-best player of all time" if he keeps playing like he is.
Wemby will emerge from what could be to he has arrived.
Some player we are not thinking of will emerge and get some love.

Jordan has 6 MVPs, 6 FMVPS, an DPOY, and 10 NBA scoring titles.

Lebron has 4 MVPs, 4 FMVPs, a scoring title, and every longevity record in the book.

For a player to get in the conversation with Lebron and MJ, he will need at least 4 MVPs and 3-4 championships.

The only player right now that has a chance of entertaining that conversation is Jokic who has 3 MVPs and a FMVP...but he still needs another MVP at least 2-3 championships to get there.

Shai will need to win at least another 2-3 MVPs and 3-4 championships before he can even enter that conversation.

From my recollection, Lebron only started entering the GOAT conversation in 2016, when he already had 4 MVPs and won his 3rd title. His 4th NBA title put him squarely in the conversation with Jordan and made the gap closer.

Is the OP for real?
I mean, you can read opinions like that all the time, so either there are a lot of trolls having their fun, or delusional stans. Either more of them as you think or they are simply the loudest in hyping up their favorite player. Either way: This makes it so hard for me to not see a great player who I'd rank somewhere between top 10 and top 20 as the most overrated. Even though there are also a lot of basketball fans who rush over immediately to call that out as also seen in this thread.

I really would like some substantial arguments why people rate Kobe so high. There are more than a handful of other players who won more, and who had more impact. So when not rating style over anything, what's the case for Bryant to be ranked above Jordan, Kareem, LeBron (Shaq?) who were at least as good as volume scorers as Kobe, but also more efficient? And that's not taking into account how much guys like Russell or Duncan dominated by being superior defensive players. I don't get how Kobe gets into the conversation of being top 5. Let alone top 2 which is utterly ridiculous.

LeBron will have his jersey retired by three organizations, on its own this is massive from perspective of 'securing legacy' in long-term perspective. It's like saying that Shaq doesn't have a fan base or legacy with very similar career trajectory while being a tier worse player - of course he does.

Actually, going to the Lakers was the best thing LeBron could've done with managing his haters as Lakers fanbase was pretty vocal about him in the past and now majority of their fans are very positive about LBJ.

majority of Laker fans want him gone

Yeah bro, you would've been laughed at if you considered any of those guys better than Kobe, laughed at.

This is just wishful thinking from a Kobe stan who still hasn't accepted LeBron passed Kobe nearly a decade ago.

This. The delusion is remarkable. The only people that thought Kobe was top 1 all time would be an echo chamber of Kobe stans which OP clearly is but now his reality is shattered realizing normal people disagree so he’s out here trying to tear down LeBron’s legacy.

Locking this because it's a low-quality topic, where 90% of the responses are guaranteed to be people explaining why it's not a good topic.
