Herro Ankle Surgery

Post#1 » by JujitsuFlip » Fri Sep 19, 2025 2:39 pm

Looks like he had to have surgery today, training camp starts at the end of this month.

Return timeline currently TBD but being assumed it will be awhile before Herro is back on the court.

Powell might be able to pick-up the slack but yeah its a rough blow this close to the start of the season.

If they move Wiggins for Dalton this might be a sneak tank year for them, do they own their pick this upcoming draft? They weren’t much of a real threat prior to Herros injury but the east got that much more wide open.

Does Spo have another underdog overachiever season in him. The lose a ton of their offense now, but potentially become a better defensive team in the Spo Mold. Interesting to see how important Tyler is to this team.

Herro shoots to me much anyways. This could be a blessing in disguise and allow Jovic to take the reigns of the offense and breakout into AS caliber.

A talent starved team loses more talent. Not even a Herro fan like that, but Miami badly needs a reset. In a league where offense is at a premium, they run a system that seems a good 10 years behind.

Bam/JJJ

FOR

KP/Risacher/NOP Picks (via Hawks)

Who says no? Nice little tank move for Heat right.

Tank the season maybe rather than go all out for a play in spot?

More bam iso's and mid range doesn't sound very appealing to me...

I don't think they need to trade bam to tank. He ain't carrying your offense and he's proven that.

If it started bothering him earlier, why only now decided to have the surgery?

Lots of injuries have multiple treatment paths. If something heals without surgery, that is typically preferred. But sometimes you wait for the healing that doesn’t happen in the way you hope, so you resort to surgery anyway.

If anyone had to get injured for Miami, Herro is the most expendable because of Powell being able to step in. This likely makes life easier for Spo, who now has a clear path to start Davion Mitchell alongside Powell. Dru Smith stands to gain from this, as well, as he'll now be in line for major minutes off the bench. It also opens a window for Terry Rozier to make his way back into the lineup and maybe play his way to a trade.

The other thing is, he's eligible for a 3-year $149 million extension this fall.

Herro had his best season last season but in the playoffs the Cavs hunted him.

So he's like Trae Young, a very good offensive player especially in the regular season but a big defensive liability in the playoffs.

So do you pay at best a #2 player $50 million a year?

They should take this season to tank. As a fan of a team that loves making the playin and nothing more I'm hoping you guys tank and get a good pick to pair with a solid group rather then ignore the signs and go for a play in spot to get stuck in it for years.

I disagree.

The East is as weak as it has ever been, and Miami has a very good mix of veterans and young guys. How well they do will depend on how the newer pieces (Wiggins, Powell, D Mitchell, Fontecchio) fit with Bam and Herro and how much improvement (if any) Ware, Larsson, Jaquez, and Jovic show.

I think Miami can finish as high as 4th in the East.

Nobody on current East can actually challange OKC/ Rockets / Nuggets.

Reason why East is "open" is not because there are many elite teams but because there is non.

Only actually elite two teams from last year are no longer in picture due injuries of their best players and both teams going into semi- retool /rebuild mode.

To me Heat team is like Raptors team. Pefect mediocrity. Not bad enough to tank, not good enough to matter.

And all the other teams from East have massive issues inside their rosters that are hard to overcome to win title. Knicks have clear KAT defense problem at C and offense that is stiff and forced, where Brunson often plays hero ball for 20 min.
Cavs "twin tower problem" is going nowhere any time soon. Both of them are better off each other.
Bucks literally have no talent whatsoever at PG-SG spots.
Magic have no PG and two much usage goes to wings that can't shoot 3s at nba level.

Now comapre those teams to West where OKC goes 68-14 for a season with 12 men deep roster, Rockets that will line up Segun, Amen, Durant, Vleet, Jabari, Tari, Capela, Adams or retooled Nuggtes team that finally has more than 6 nba players. Last time they had that, they won title.

Wolves are probably better than any team from East, going into 25-26 season, and they won't be top 3 contender on West due how talented West is.
