Guys like Lowry, Chris Paul, Iverson are all under 6ft

Chris Paul was 5’11.75 in socks. He’s like 6’3 by the standards some of these guys get lol

I was gonna say technically yes cp is 5'11 but hes closed to 6ft than he is 5'11. Hes 6'1 in your standard 1.25" sole shoes.

99.9% of the time I see them, they have shoes on and are going up against people with shoes on. They are taller with shoes on. That's their size on the court in relation to the specific size of the court and the height of the basket and everything else.

Yes sure, and list NFL players in their cleats height and NHL players in skates.

Are you George Costanza by the way?

I don't watch NFL or care about it. All I know is I watch players in shoes. I want to know their standing reach in relation to the rim. I don't care if it would be harder to reach the rim without shoes.

Very silly. I guess people are applying things from other sports to come to this weird conclusion about shoe-less height.

Because when they play basketball, they're not barefoot. Their height barefoot is irrelevant to their play on the court.

I never understood this argument, it is so stupid its unbelievable to me. Everyone freaking wear shoes, you take that off when you measure your freaking height. When people ask my height, I do not add 3 cms cause I wear shoes, like WTF is that? I can not believe this argument seriously. F1 drivers are below 3'0 when they compete, should we list their height at that now, like wtf is that? Wow, Lebron is 6'9 cause get it, he WEAR SHOES, holly crap... No, but seriously, what is your REAL HEIGHT LeBron?

These nba players heights also make me want to exaggerate my height. If Jordan is 6'6 in shoes, and I'm 6'6 in shoes or close to it why am I going around saying I'm 6'4. I should just say I'm 6'6 like Jordan.

Barefoot height matters because it standardizes the data. Players have worn oversized shoes at the NBA Combine to boost their height. They don't wear these shoes when they play. Hell, players wear different shoes with slightly differing sole thickness throughout their careers.

LeBron’s sneakers are amongst the most bottom loaded of All-time. Right up there with the Nike shox series.

Whereas Kobe’s (6:42) “Do not step on a thumbtack” “If you take out the insole, you can press through the outsole”. That said Kobe 1s were definitely Bronesque.

It would be interesting to see if Kobe and LeBron were in the same conference. I don’t think Kobe would go super low that we saw from 08 to 12 (his championship window). With LeBron being on Kobe’s infamous list, I suspect we’d see more iterations of the Kobe 1s for durability and standing cushion to keep Bron uncomfortable on the wing. Size on the wing does bother Bron as we’ve all seen.

I wish the league wasn’t all marketing etc to sell sneakers.. just straight up ball. We’d see guys changing shoes for certain matchups. I’ve done that as a former hooper who primarily played defense as do guys like PJ Tucker and others.

I don't know why they don't just measure all players barefoot before the beginning of the new season.

It starts with the players.. this is a player empowerment league first and foremost. Certain players are insecure about their height (among other things). League as a whole is soft like charmin.

Ive noticed this phenomenon if you're in the tall end like 6'6 in shoes and above they are perfectly fine calling you by your in shoes height rather than barefoot height and be done with it. If you're in that range of like 6'2 and below in shoes they will fight tooth and nail to argue that you're not x height.

This is so true. FVV and Chris Paul geting the 3rd degree over any 1/8th of an inch they're using to get to 6 foot or 6 foot 1.

I think it's the agents who inflate players' heights and the league lets them do it, although I haven't seen any heights fudged at the draft combine. Those measurements are accurate.

Michael Jordan claiming 6’6” is laughable.

Same with 6’10” Hakeem claiming 7 foot.

Isaiah Collier has been wearing some type of orthopedic in-soles in his shoes. He was using this to claim he's 6'5" for a while. The league has knocked his official height back down to 6'3".

Who cares. Its all about how players play on the court. I would have never guessed Bruce Brown is only 6'4, he plays like he's 6'7. Trae Young is 6'1 but looks more like he's 5'10 on the court because of his posture and physique. Just use your eyes.

I've been following the Kobe vs T-mac era since it's infancy.. 15+ years later T-Mac (who was always 6ft 7-8) is now magically 6ft 9- 6ft 10. Make that make sense.

Here's McGrady (who clearly now has no credibility) attempting to boost his height stats with Garnett:
