Wemby is going to break every single advanced stat
Wemby hasn't even been "efficient" in 2 of the 3 games this year. His FG% is 57, he's dropping 36% from 3 and shooting 73% from the FT, the raw #s don't look eye popping.
This comes out to a 64% TS, which is good for a center, not amazing, but quite good. It's actually the same TS as KD when he won an MVP
Now the advanced stats, well
43 PER, 16.1 BPM, .489 WS/48
I mean obviously it's only 3 games, but across 3 games where Wemby was not even playing up to the best he could be, the #s are enough to completely wreck the stats.
I mean we could see a guy legitimately shatter every single advanced stat record in Jokic's back pocket. He's going to make prime Jokic look like prime DeAndre Jordan, it's going to be unfair, and that's what happens when you have a guy that can legitimately average 5 blocks per game for a whole season.
If you LOOOOVE advanced stats, you better sell that Jokic stock quick because Wemby is going to demolish these records as long as he is healthy.

We are possibly looking at the GOAT. No surprise.

Until some other guy comes along that's heavier and more powerful than Shaq, more mobile than Hakeem, while having a longer wingspan and higher standing reach than Wemby, and more skilled than Jokic.

Victor will never be 303+ lbs with a 36-inch vertical. 260 pounds with a 30-inch vertical, perhaps.

Why the Jokic dis? Yeah, Wemby is better and more inpactful and barring health, Wemby will be (imo he's already there) - the most impactful player everGodymas wrote:Wemby hasn't even been "efficient" in 2 of the 3 games this year. that should come as surprise to no one and if anything the fact that u need a once in hundred years complete freak of nature whose 7'6 but can move like a guard, ans has high i.q, demeanor and basketball skills on top to surpass Jokic's advanced stats mark, kinda proofs just how great Jokic is, no?

We see these threads every year. It makes absolutely no sense to value players on sample size of under dozen games

Imo this image speaks more any words I could personally type. It speaks volumes to the reality of the NBA. The three gods of the decade, leading in their respective specialties. Shai - Scoring, Giannis - Rebounds, Jokic - Assists, and above them all, the one true god, the most important thing in the NBA, winning, from the best, Victor Wembanyama.
The Victor.

Re: Wemby is going to break every single advanced stat
I mean it's a little early for this obviously. And I would say he was only "inefficient" in one of the games (yesterday) - he missed 5 FTs and missed a few bunnies near the rim he would normally make, he should have had another 40 piece. He shot 57% in the 2nd game of the season and that's with going 0-3 from deep.
Overall though if he continues being focused on taking high percentage shots and goes from 10 3PA per game down to 5 or so, and the Spurs are wining, he is going to break a lot of advanced metrics. Guys like Shai/Jokic have incredible offensive numbers but lack the video game numbers ability Vic has on D, so with his offensive efficiency ticking up coupled with his dominance on defense, his advanced metrics should look otherworldly this season

Re: Wemby is going to break every single advanced stat
43 PER is just beyond comprehension. Remember, PER is a seasonally-adjusted stat. So it effectively is measuring the degree to which an individual player is outperforming the league average player in a given season. And overall stat inflations due to pace and defensive rules don't inflate PER at all.
Usually the league leader in PER scores around 30, and in the very best seasons, you might see someone post a 32 like Jokic did in 2022. Even if Wemby only posts a 34 or or so, it will still be the highest PER of all time.

He has the tools and talent to do so,
however the consistency and endurance are still up in the air. Give it at least till December.

You become the "best player" in the playoffs, not in the rs but there isn't anyone who doubts he can replicate this in the playoffs so yeah..def the best player in the worldJustBuzzin wrote:I'm going to go ahead and say what others are afraid to say.

They are leading the league in point differential. And he's literally changed his style of play. The Spurs are figuring this out on the fly. Unlike other teams that have had years to refine their approach - OKC, Bucks etc. Good team bad team it really doesn't matter. Even if they lose, he's still putting up numbers that are breaking basketball. And this is the worst he'll/they'll be for a very long time. A PER of 43.5 with GOAT defense. Who cares who they are playing? Wemby will rewrite the record books. The only thing that we really need to talk about is whether or not he can stay healthy. If he can he should win 10 straight DPOY and 10 straight MVPS. There's no one that impacts winning more than Wemby. There is no player more valuable than Wemby. And the best thing for basketball fans is that he's committed to being the best player ever.

People just have this inability to wait to make any proclamations or large conclusions.
Obviously I clearly don't get it as my brain doesn't function that way, but it's wild to me
Can't you just wait for 20 games? Seriously, it will not kill you. We don't have to make proclamations after every few games (I know it won't stop), it's okay.
Wemby is great, but his advanced stats 3 games into the season is not anything to make conclusions from. Giannis is a 43 PER so far too with a 71.6% TS.

Luka and Giannis also currently have a PER of 43.
Why are we just expecting Wemby to maintain?

Some people just can't wait to see somebody claim Jokic's place as the best player. Relax. You can enjoy both at the same time (that's what she said).

Why are you hiding the truth? Do you have an aggenda? Just tell Jokic, Jordan, LeBron to move aside, White Mamba is going after your advanced stats records.
Offensive Win shares
1. Austin Reaves 0.8
Or should I say Offensive Box Plus/Minus is better measure of players impact on offense
1. Aaron Gordon 15.2 - should we call him the king?
Of all offensive stats I like Offensive rating the best. You know who leads the league? No it is not air Jordan it is
1. Air Cedric Coward 179.4
New generation is caming after you Jordan's, LeBron's...
