I'm not asking for it to be the #1 topic. But a former NBA player domestic violence should be noted by ESPN. We need to hold clowns like this accountable.

Nobody is claiming domestic violence is "right". Singler is a nobody at this point though. He's had 1 mention on the espn site in the last 8 years and that was only because other NBA player were commenting because they thought he was going to kill himself.

He's actually a somebody. Played in the league for 7yrs.

By all accounts, he was a "high character" guy as a Piston, even if he was a turnstile.

Weird obsession to want to be the guy sitting in judgement of everyone else. If its newsworthy ESPN will cover it(lol at thinking they are covering something up for Kyle Singler). If they don't find it newsworthy they aren't going to lead Sportscenter with it so you can continue to feel morally superior to everyone else.

You still hold ESPN to such a high status? If I see it on realgm or other forums then that's as mainstream as it gets for me. Cable channels have never been as irrelevant as they are right now and they're still not done sinking.

Nothing excuses assault. No matter what state you're in, you're accountable for your own actions.

I hope he's able to get care, though. I hope he gets to a place where he can live a reasonable life without being a threat to himself and others. I have all kinds of empathy for anyone living with any kind of mental illness this severe. It's probably hell to be Kyle Singler, and hell for his family and loved ones.

He was a extremely successful, likable guy with an enormous social circle, but in the last few years of his life he had serious mental health issues and exhibited similar behaviors to Singler in that video of him that came out.

Which isn't to excuse domestic violence, Singler should face consequences for that first and foremost, but the Kyle Singler that's been in the news a few times the last year or two is not the same guy people remember, and he needs psychiatric help.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. That story guts me. My heart goes out to you, his friends, and his family.

I also have friends with this level of mental health difficulties. Their worst episodes haven't resulted in the tragedy that befell your friend, and I hope so hard it never does. A few of the episodes have ended in physical altercations with police, but the result of that was them getting arrested and put in an institution. The severity level of what happened to your friend... that's exactly the kind of thing we're all afraid of, when you have someone in your life with that type of struggle. I'm sorry, man. Beyond words.

When they're like that, it feels like there's no right thing you can do to help them. You want to get them help, but institutionalization, or police, or both... it can result in more violence. There's no good choice available.
