The Suns could have KG in the post. But they stupidly wouldn't do that three team deal on draft day where Amare went to ATL. Now it's more of the same. This team CANNOT beat SA in seven game series. SA slows the game down and Amare can't cover Duncan. I don't know why they keep attacking it with the same formula.

Yeah baby!

Spurs spank those Suns..

Amare lost this game not only on the offensive end but defensively too. He can't guard Duncan and therefore, has to be helped by 2 other defenders opening up the court for the spurs. All duncan had to do was kick it out.

Duncan again came up big. Now, thats the best player in Basketball!

For Phoenix's sake I hope they don't have to play the Spurs in the playoffs. I want to see my boy Nash get a ring... of course, by the looks of it, not with Duncan standing in the way.

running and gunning will only take them too far. Had they not been this cheap and let Kurt Thomas go, they would still have chance. But not with Amare. They can't deal with a Duncan. No chance in hell. They might win a game or two against the spurs in a series, they can't beat em. Same will happen if they met Boston. They have a soft centre, and lets face it, Marion isn't big enough to guard dominating PF's either. Suns can't win a championship until they get a defensive big manning their post.

PHX getting rid of Thomas made no sense then and it still makes no sense now. If it was only financial then the Suns are an even bigger joke than most already think they are. With Thomas on him you can single cover Duncan a lot of the game, let Duncan get his 30, and throw the other guys out of rhythm not getting any shots especially in the late 4th when the Spurs count on their guards to make plays at the end for them.

If you got Skinner as his replacement at least put him on Duncan in the closing minutes or something.

Same old story for the Suns. Up what, 5 in the last minute and you help off Duncan(or was it Ginobili, I dont really remember) taking 1 dribble 20 feet away from the basket when he wasnt a threat at all and give up a wide open Finley 3. They get a stop there its over. If Amare just hits 2 of his FT's its over. If anyone could hit a shat its over. Bunch of choking dogs.

They are overrated. Simple. They are not build to win championships. They're like the circus coming to town, the lions sure do entertain but they're not really real lions.

Gutty, stellar win by the Spurs - good game, too!

They hung around, hung around, hung around, dictated the tempo the whole game... eventually their abilities as a team - even short-handed, just got it done. Reminds me of game 5 in the playoffs last year in ways.

The Suns had their chances, and just couldn't put the Spurs away. Especially with the Spurs circumstances.

The Suns match-up issues with the Spurs and their flaws as a team, combined with how SA can still play being short-handed, sums up the win.

I actually dosed off after it was 69-67, and they went to commercial... thankfully I had the tape going! I woke up a little while ago and just watched the rest of the game, not knowing what had happened at all. So it was like it was live. Pretty awake now :).

Tremendous night of basketball.

I can legitimately see them not against certain teams. The Lakers being one of them. Bynum will have like a month to get back into things before the playoffs.

Yes, it was! I was surprised, as well. Even with the Spurs being the Spurs despite being short-handed, I thought Phoenix would be able to play better.

They were exposed. Not like ever before, though, because of SA missing a couple key guys.

Oh yes.

Well said. But the west will be too tough for them to get to face Boston. But, there is the regular season to show what would happen if they did meet in the finals.

Thing is, that's not even enough against the Spurs. As was shown in the playoffs last year. The Suns overall defense isn't consistent or good enough - the mind-set, energy expense, and partially additional personnel, just isn't there for it to be so. Then you have their offense not being too flexible. One of their few strengths is what can't be relied on as the main thing in the playoffs.

Aside from it being Skinner, just one defensive big, doesn't get 20 MPG, and doesn't play down the stretch... is there an offensive bias and mis-utilization there, or what? While Skinner alone isn't enough because of depth issues and Skinner generally not being a #1-type defensive big man, D'Antoni should go big later in games. Nash/Bell/Marion/Amare/Skinner. There's still plenty of offense there, it's just going to a traditional line-up to be more balanced.

Ultimately, the Suns have to get more balanced to increase their chances of achieving the goals they want to reach.

The suns have only themselves to blame. They could have KG on the roster but refused to deal Amare. They will pay dearly for that mistake, just like they did last night.
