I bet Bean wins it just to shove it in all the haters faces.

Kapono is gonna be in the final though, he's great in this competition.

Steve Nash won't win, but he'll make everybody else in the competition better.

According to Charlotte Bobcats game announcers, Richardson was invited and declined. Richardson is 15th in 3pt shooting at 42%, So I don't see how you can be upset over a guy (Hamilton) who is 5th in the league in 3pt % at 47% getting invited to the contest.

Just cause the Raptors only have 1 participant doesn't mean you should hate on Rip.

Because Rip is only averaging 1 three a game, while Richardson is averaging nearly 3? Simply put, the three-point shot isn't a huge part of Rip's game. He's a fantastic mid-range shooter; if this were the "coming off screen for a 16-footer contest" he'd be the hands down favorite. When I think of threes, I don't think of Rip.

That is the very reason he is in this contest. He wanted to be in this shoot out to prove to people who believe that he's not a 3pt shooter that he can shoot them.

But I guess since you don't consider him a 3pt shooter he should just withdrawl his name from the All-Star activity.

^ Yes actually. He's a fan who holds the common thought for Rip... so as a customer service base industry that's exactly what should happen. Who outside of DET really give a **** if Rip wants to prove in a contest instead of game that he is the best 3 point shooter this season?

He also holds the record for most 3's made in NBA history and most consecutive 3's made.[/quote]

If I'm not mistaken that is Reggie Miller's claim? I'm always hearing on ESPN broadcast that Ray Allen has the second most 3-pointers made behind Reggie Miller

Hopefully Steve Novak will be in there next year. If only he'd learn to play some defense so he can stay on the floor.

You have to see Steve Novak in person to appreciate the beauty of his jump shot. It is so pure, so flawless, so smooth ... and when he's on, he rarely even grazes iron.

I didn't think of Richardson as a three-point shooter before this season either. But know what? He's leading the league in 3PM. He has almost a hundred more than does Rip. Right now, I'd consider him a three-point shooter.

Also, if he wants to prove that he's a good three-point shooter... why doesn't he do it in the regular season? Wouldn't that make sense? Wilt was accused of never passing, so he lead the league in total assists one year. :dontknow: Why does Rip need to take a spot from a more deserving player to prove it, when he obviously hasn't done so on the court this year?

Rip lead the league in 3pt % the year before last, and he's currently 5th in the league in 3pt % this season. Just because a few fans don't think of him as 3pt shooter doesn't make him undeserving.

Tied for fifth this year, averaging fewer than anyone in front of him. He's barely averaging better than Calderon (.468 vs .445) on similar attempt/made statistics. All that, while averaging more points than anyone else in the top-10 in 3P%, and 3rd in the top 20.

Translation: while Rip is shooting a good percentage from 3, it's proportionally far less a part of his game than other players--that's my argument. That he's getting a smaller fraction of his points on fewer three-pointers. Can you really argue that? If so, please do, I'd love to see you try. I'm not saying that he's not that he's not a good shooter, I'm saying it's not really as much of an aspect of his game as it is for other players.

Also, why does him leading the league in 3P% two years ago (beating out Tyronn Lue by .001--impressive! And, again, he averaged fewer threes on fewer tries than anyone else in the top 50 that year) mean he should be in this year?

I'd rather see the best pure shooters (Peja and Kapono) duke it out in the final, not Rip and Kobe clank consecutive misses just because they're big names.
