Team Needs & Assets

Post#1 » by Flite » Tue Feb 12, 2008 5:09 pm

I thought this thread would be a good idea, to help fans understand other teams mindsets around the league when it comes to roster setup and changes.

For instance, I'm a Chicago Bull's fan. We don't want Ben Wallace. In fact, alot of Bull's fans would gladly trade Ben Wallace for a ball rack and a McDonalds toy. Us Bull's fans know this, but fans of other teams around the league may not this this quite as well, or very well at all.

I also know we wouldn't mind adding things like a low post scorer, a more pure point, or some size in our backcourt. I also know we wouldn't mind moving players like Chris Duhon or Andres Nocioni.

Being a follower of another team, you may not know these things. You may think that Bull's fan's would gladly trade Thabo Sefolosha for Kevin Ollie. Knowing a little more about how the other teams around the league work and think goes a long way in understanding the league as a whole.

You guys can post what your thoughts on the teams you know well, and if a) there's numerous people mentioning the same thing and/or b) it's obvious, then it'll be added to the list.

This could be quite helpful for Knicks fan's looking to figure out a way to deal Eddy Curry, but don't know who to. Same for Bull's fans with the previously mentioned Ben Wallace, and so on.

Mod's, feel free to update the list as you see fit, provided this thing get's off the ground.

Here's the template:

The Wolves would like to get rid of Jaric's contract and should also part ways with Green.

This isn't a tradeboard thread, though, it's not about necessarily moves they want to make, it's about informing other posters about the sense the team has of its players, who they consider assets, what needs/desires the team has, etc. It's a bit broader in scope.

"[*code]insert stuff here[/code*]"

That way you can line stuff up more effectively. Obviously, don't use the asterisks.

That's my opinion...

DENVER NUGGETS:

Team Needs: A good coach

Motivation

A big PG, who brings above average defense on SG's, shoots the open 3, and doesn't turn the ball over

A good coach

If Nene isn't able to recover in time, a PF with offensive skills

Team Assets: In preference order: George Karl, Sucky Trashkins, 1st round draft pick, Najera (Expiring), JR Smith (Expiring), Nene & Kleiza (those two should only be included on a sweet sweet deal)

I'm just curious but what would the Knicks say for team needs? Their entire team looks like it could be fixed. Wouldn't the list just go on forever?

That really sounds like kirk hinrich. I'm new on this board but I'm assuming this kinda talk has already been made with Hinrich to Denver so I won't get into that.

Hinrich fills that role, but maybe the only deal that *made* sense is a swap for Nene (due to Nene's condition not anymore) and both sides would have a long hard time before pulling the trigger

Houston Rockets:

Team Needs: PG who can be a consistent 3rd option scorer (Mike Bibby seems like the perfect fit)

Assets: Mike James, Kirk Snyder, Steve Novak, Steve Francis, (possibly) Bonzi Wells

Notes: I doubt many teams would be too interested in our "assets"

That would be interesting. I've always been a big fan of Nene and before the injuries/sickness I think he would of been a nice addition, especially since earlier in the season Kirk was doing absolutely nothing.

Seeing that the Magic need a point guard who can pay defence - looks like Chris Duhon might be an option? He plays good defence and can hit the three well - a shot that I see alot of Magic player's taking. Maybe he could fit in somewhere.
